This was my husband and I first and last visit. We ordered the Shrimp Spring Rolls appetizer, they had no taste and served with a cold sweet chili sauce that tasted like something I can get from the grocery store. My husband ordered what I believe was the Fried Seafood Platter with Cajun fries. He said his food had no seasoning and by the looks of it there was no Cajun seasoning on those fries. I ordered a seafood boil which was the worst I have ever had. The sauce was watery with no flavor, maybe a hint of salt. The server was excellent and doing the best she can as she was the only waitress working. The place needs a deep cleaning, you could hear our shoes sticking to the floor. We were very disappointed but wanted to try something new.

First time in this establishment, six tables were filled with people dining I came in. It took me a half hour before the waitress gave me water. I canceled my drink. The food was horrible. Some of the vegetables on the salad look old dressing was poor quality the oysters all it was was fried dough with little remnants of what I hope was an oyster. The clam chowder was good. That’s why I gave it a one.

We went for our first time and while the food tasted good there were many things we were disappointed with.
First the flies and cleanliness. We had 3 flies continuously by our table and their bathrooms were not the cleanest.
The second .. The hush puppies size for the price isn’t worth it. We ordered a boil only to be informed after we ordered that they were out of scallops which is what my husband desperately wanted (waitress should have already been aware of this), we also didn’t get mussels which was supposed to come with his new boil he ordered. Also their garlic butter should come with a warning. It’s not standard garlic butter, it’s butter with old bay seasoning which has a kick to it. Not what I was expecting when the menu stated garlic butter or Cajun butter. I will say we expressed our complaints to the waitress and I’ll add she was great. She had the owner come and talk to us which was helpful.. and I’ll add he comped out 2 beers we ordered but overall 84$ bill for two adults and 1 kid (which was free) was not worth it.

Great seafood and outstanding crab cakes! The Sands offers an outstanding menu heavy on the seafood. This was 3rd time eating there and finally tried the boil in bag seafood boil. You can mix, match and customize these to your tastes including getting spicy and I was very happy with my choice of scallops plus I had them add some cajun sausage. The menu is huge. The staff is very friendly and attentive and they bring the food straight out of the kitchen to the table. My wife loves crab cakes like the kind you get in Maryland - pan seared, all crab - this is the place to get them. They have a good bar selection and that atmosphere is very comfortable. Tons of parking and a great atmosphere. If you are looking for some good seafood, stop into the Sands.

Atmosphere was ok, certainly could use a deep clean, bathrooms did not smell good at all. Service was absolutely incredible, the team did a great job, actually very impressive. Food was hit and miss. Fried catfish was great, clam chowder was good. Gumbo, aeh.... not so hot. Didn't taste like typical Gumbo. I will return, but will not be frequently.

I joined friends for a birthday brunch yesterday and felt like this establishment played in my face. I ordered the shrimp and lobster omelette and it was disgusting. They actually put a piece of sliced cheese on top of the omelette. The inside of the omelette had undercooked and unseasoned shrimp with a clump of unseasoned lobster meat (that seemed more like canned crab meat) thrown in with 4-5 pieces of peppers and onions. When I say NO SEASONING WHATSOEVER! My friend was unhappy with her plate and asked for the owner. When I showed him the cheese slice on top of the omelette, he stated that we had to think about the demographics for the location!!! Then proceeded to tell us that he’s only been in business for 2 years. None of that negates the fact of what I was served. He even looked surprised when I showed him the omelette, and stated “it wasn’t supposed to be like that.” The potatoes were bathed in salt and we were told that they are fried in chicken grease! However, my table agreed that it tasted like it was fried in fish/ seafood grease! I like to support, but this was utterly disgusting! CC FOR PICS
I ordered for pickup. I'm not from Indy but I would recommend!! I had the shrimp bag and boy'ol boy it was good
Food was ok but the service was awful. So slow and just standing around playing on phones. Will not be back
Way way over priced ... best part of our meal was the corn on the cob .... lobster wasn't cook all the way ..30 mins to get our drinks an the place wasbt busy at all.. won't be coming back
UPDATE: Changing the rating to a 5-star, because their mistake was quickly resolved & I received a refund. Thanks!
Sooo disappointed. Was initially so glad I gave this place a try. The food, atmosphere, & service were fantastic. But problems arose when the bill came. I ordered the Seafood Alfredo w/ shrimp AND chicken, which is advertised on the menu as including shrimp AND mussels or chicken. But I was forced to pay twice the cost of the item as advertised on the menu, which is fraudulent & I will be reporting it to my credit card issuer as such. Unfortunately, cannot recommend... as you will be scammed.

You know I hate to have to be this guy and hate leaving anything less than a positive review but I wasn't satisfied with sands tonight. Called in an order and was told 10 to 15 min. After that 15 min I sat in the lobby for over 45 min. Placed an order over the phone and opted to pay in person, well that means they don't start your order until you come in and pay. Again I don't mean to complain but my shrimp Alfredo literally had 1 shrimp. Greasy and cold too after waiting almost an hour. The chowder was excellent tho
Went about six on Friday. GOT the shrimp Poboy. Huge with plenty of shrimp. Maybe add more mayo to the sandwich. I added the lemon pepper to the shrimp Poboy!!! Delicious. Cajun fries were fantastic. Only thing I was disappointed on was the hush puppies. For 4.99 I got six small ones. Don't know if that's the true order for an appetizer but felt I should have had more than six baby hush puppies for the price.
Food is pretty good yet service leaves something to be desired. Really wish they didn't have all these different things every night, I mean I'd like to go there and eat with out the so called entertainment. And why be closed on Tuesday? 🤦🏽
From the waitress to the owner, everyone is so nice! Great service and a great story on how they got here. if your looking for real Louisiana cooking, this is the place. The calamari just melts in your mouth. The gumbo is the real thing! Catfish and fried oysters were both perfect. I'm just mad it took me so long to try this place!
where to start? with the HORRIBLE waitress or the EXTREMELY salty food? or maybe they weren't used to having our party of 15 even tho we had reservations? I had high hopes, as it came highly recommended, but sadly, they were dashed after waiting 10 mins to get a drink (other than water), another 10 to get our orders taken and then.....wow....food came out at all different times for everyone. we practically had to BEG for condiments/napkins and, believe it or not, even silverware! there were NO napkins, no refills for people drinking pop, no return to our table to see what we might need inbetween(we literally flagged our waitress down multiple times) and more! my husband ordered fish n chips, as did a couple other guests. he got two skinny strips of something that definitely was NOT cod (looked NOTHING like anyone else's fish) and thought maybe catfish? I ordered a kids shrimp dinner and could only eat a few fries because they were WAY over salted. we had to remind our waitress again and again of what we needed before we finally got it. I gave up on any cocktail sauce because of the wait to get a simple bottle of ketchup! honestly, from what I heard and saw, most everyone was okay with the food, but our end of the table got shorted big time somehow. my granddaughter was celebrating her 18th birthday and thankfully she really enjoyed her seafood boil, but this is one place to steer clear of and I see I'm not rhe only one who left a less than stellar review.
