Had the prawn wonton soup; it was absolutely glorious! Good soup, but the wontons are the real star of the show; you get a nice amount of them, and they taste amazing.

Ordered some prawn wontons, and I asked for it to be less spicy. Was still super spicy. A lot of wrapper for little fillings.. not any special flavor

Full disclosure... years ago I traveled to Shanghai where I fell in love with Yang's Fried Dumplings. I have yet to find anywhere else in the world to do dumplings like Yang's does. Until now. Perfectly chewy dough cooked to have a crispy/crunchy bottom bursting with molten hot pork broth as soon as you bite in. The meat inside is well flavored and just a delight to eat. My family also got prawn dumplings with spicy oil, Dan Dan noodles and spicy sesame noodles. We are only in London for 4 days, but I'm already planning a way to get back before we leave.

So so good, love going here for lunch! Quick and friendly service. Food is always amazing and fun to enjoy with friends in busy Spitalfields market!

large soup dumplings that come out piping hot and in about two minutes. I thought the spicy wontons were fine. dumplings are worth an order if you're getting a bunch of things around the market.

Got their signature Pan Fried Soup Dumplings that looked super legit but unfortunately fell significantly short of expectations. They were very juicy, so I will give them that and not too doughy. But the bottom was more chewy than crispy and the meat filling had an odd taste and consistency that was way off the mark from authentic Sheng Jian Bao.

Got to try the Set A lunch! (dan dan noodles and 2 pan friend soup dumplings for 10 pounds) I've already had the pan fried soup dumplings and loved it, but I had no idea what to expect for the dan dan noodles since it's not their main dish. However, it definitely exceeded my expectations and is one of the better dan dan noodles I've tasted. Came with a lot of cucumbers, so it was a refreshing dish as well :) Very satisfying for lunch and you won't feel hungry for the rest of the day.

Nice take-away spot for Dumplings inside Spitalfields Market. I had some Prawn Wontons in Chilli Oil that I liked as they had a good thin dough and a tasty filling in a good quantity. Prices are fair and the line goes quicker than it seems since you can quickly order directly from the tablet at the counter.

招牌生煎包! The pan friend dumplings here are so good. They are full of soup and piping hot. You have the option to get 4 or 6, and they're ready fairly quickly as they're literally just cooking on the stove. The outer layer is nice and crunchy, the way it should be. We'll be back!

Dumpling Shack makes the best sheng jian bao I've tasted in my life. Living so close to Spitalfields, I probably went there twice a week if I'm being honest. Their scallion pancakes are AMAZING as well

We went and tried the Shengjian Bao today. I really have had better. The filling was quite crude, and the flavoring was all over the place. It was not one of the best that I'd had. On top of all this, the pricing seriously did not reflect the quality of the food. My suggestions: For the food, the minced meat needs to be at least 2-3 times more fine. Right now, it is very crude and very dry. Furthermore, more cooking wine to rid the filling of the animal stink and less sesame oil to avoid the currently pungent smell. Consider adding more starch into the filling. Also, you really do need to provide better service. You need to provide a better set of utensils for the customers. What you are giving out right now, just the container with the food inside, is not enough. In addition, since your kitchen is open to view by customers, it's probably best not to behave so casually to the customers while also demonstrating such a chaotic atmosphere in your own kitchen.

Went to the spitalfields market via tube and then it's like a 15 min walk. You'll like this market if u like flea market type things and vintage items Big open space The workers at this booth were so nice and patient The food takes a little time on the dumplings because it's a popular dish so they run out quick and get come off the grill pretty much as ordered... The food is fresh and hot and the Fresh noodles had a great Al dente bite to it but not over or under cooked... For London.. This was the best Asian food I had For the dumplings.. Be careful because it has boiling hot soup inside. You'll most likely burn ur tongue but it'll be worth it haha Would recommend

Everything was fresh and tasted great! Service was quick! One thing that I could say is that it is hard to find seats in this market. The food is normally hot when it's out, so I would also give it some time to cool down unless you like hot foods

I was hungry for lunch and wandered around the many food stands. This one stand caught my attention becasue, for one reason, of the line of people. My order was taken quickly and food delivered quickly as well. I had one of the combination lunches, dan dan noodles and soup dumplings for £10. The food was tasty, although I thought the soup dumplings were rather small with virtually no liquid. Nevertheless, I would stop here again.

Instagram sent me here. I'd seen pictures of the famous soup dumplings a few months back, and The Dumpling Shack made it to the top of my restaurant list. We managed to snag a high table right across from the stand, which was lucky. And I was prepared for a long wait, especially at 12:30 on a Saturday, but surprisingly there was no wait at all. My friends and I split two portions of pork soup dumplings, and the smacked cucumbers (funny name, but the delicious umaminess of them makes you want to smack your lips together in delight!). First of all, as cold as you may be (it was snowing while we were there), the dumplings are just too hot to eat in two or three pops (each dumpling is fairly big, requiring at least two mouthfuls). Second, even if you do manage to slurp out most of the juice, there will always be piping hot juice at the bottom of the dumpling that will, inevitably, burn your tongue. And third: how the heck can you manage to get enough vinegar soy sauce in one of those babies for ultimate flavor? It's a mess, requiring napkins and drip pans and lots of patience. Since we shared the containers (and they didn't have individual bowls), it was tough not to get soupy soy sauce and meat bits all over the table. We really did our best. The cucumbers were the perfect antidote to the steaming dumplings: they cooled down burned tongues in a flash, and their sauce was stupendous for pouring over the last bites. I wanted to try the dan dan noodles, but by 1pm the line had grown, and my attention was called to other food carts around the market.
