not busy sat in a booth near kitchen,was completely ignored got to listen to teens/young adults who work there discuss drug use sleeping with each other watched our waitress Hanna go outside twice to smoke while outer drinks were empty....nobody else checked on us though they walked past since we were by the kitchen.....food good...decent price out of alot of items....there's better service elsewhere...went Saturday 5p..Sept 22,24

I had Prime Rib, was slightly overcooked (ordered medium) definitely was med well. Taste was good but a little dry. Husband ordered New York Strip. Again was ordered medium, but arrived medium well was very dry and chewy, was unable to eat it. Other food, potato, salad & bread sticks were good. Maybe a different meat selection would be acceptable, but definitely not steak on this day.

I like the Shale Tavern. I've come here a handful of times a year for at least the last ten years. I usually come during off times and off days so I've never had to wait for a seat. Their staff is friendly and attentive, the prices are fair, and the food is consistently delicious.
The food is very good and there is a lot of food for the buck. Employees are hard workers

Sitting here finished supper with my husband. Hours say they close at 8PM. While sitting here a gentleman walked in asking to order. The bartender says "Our kitchen closes at 7:30, it is closed." Not even 5 minutes later a family of 4 walks in amd was told the something. I looked at my clock and it was only 7:10PM. Way to go owner/manager being on site to put them inline. Now as we speak at 7:56PM the bartender and other staff have been sitting at the bar talking,laughing, and carrying about one of their boy toys on their phone. Bartender only turned around long enough to take our payment, thrlen back to the gossip. Such bad service. Wish I could post a photo to prove the unprofessionalism.
Bartender was our waiter. She was amazing. Food was excellent. Waitress was very good and there for all of our needs. Would recommend the shale tavern and grille. We had the prime rib. Hungarian pretzel. Bar chips. Fried pickle chips and cheese burger. Amazing food.
We stopped for dinner late on a Sunday. Waitress was super friendly and accommodating. We had 2 couples on motorcycles that had been riding all day. Though no one was super hungry, we wanted to eat something before we ra. into a situation where everything was closed.
3 of us had appetizers that were enough for a meal. My chicken quesadilla was one of the best I've had in a while. It was perfect in its simplicity. My husband had a spicy lemon haddock special that he really enjoyed (he said I wouldn't have enjoyed the spicy part, he knows me pretty well with that).
Even though we were there close to closing time, we did not feel rushed or unwelcome.

Totally disappointing and waste of money.
I was here for work and got the sirloin tip and pasta and a shale burger. $38 for the meal. When I arrived nothing showed where to pick up takeout orders. I wandered around and found the bar. Nobody inside it. a lady was outside the bar texting away on her phone. Turned out she was staff. I saw food sitting next to her and asked if it was for me. Thats when I found out she was staff. She was oblivious to anything going on around her. It appeared to be the same in the dining area too. Totally inexcusable IMO.
Got the food back to my room. They were courteous to wrap the container in plastic wrap to avoid it leaking which was a welcome feature that I wish more would do. I will ask for that elsewhere now. However thats where the good stopped. The alfredo was super watery and bland. It was about as thick as milk. Thank goodness for the plastic wrap as it would have leaked everywhere. There was ZERO seasoning with the food. What sirloin tips I could find (maybe 5-8 pieces if I was lucky) was tough, overcooked and unseasoned. If it wasnt for the two breadsticks it came with i would have had to drink the sauce or pour it down the sink. It was so thin it didn't coat the pasta.
The shale burger for a signature burger was a joke. The portion size was decent. However it was also bland and greasy. The peppers while grilled were screaming for seasoning. It was a mushy mess.
I could hear Gordon Ramsey screaming SEASON YOUR FOOD as it needed it. I'm not sure if they are relying on the proximity to the hotel for business or what but I cant imagine they get many repeat customers with the poor quality and taste of the food. They did have menus at the front desk and in the rooms of the hotel so I'm guessing its that. I know when I return to lisbon I will be eating elsewhere. Others from my job said the same thing as they had similar dislike with other menu items.
