The whole experience was horrible. They never got the drink or food order correct all evening. They forgot the salads that come with the meal and brought us food we never even ordered. It took over a half hour for drinks alone and all those orders came wrong. They forgot the sauces for the chicken tenders and those were so overcooked you couldn't even bite them. We asked for appetizer plates and they brought full size dinner plates, but by the time they brought them, our appetizer was done. I ordered the hocking hills Pinot noir to try the local wine, but she brought me another wine and said don't worry, this one is better. They ran out of budweise, but she kept bringing yingling anyways, which we never ordered. The waitress apologized more than she did her job. With all the mistakes and errors I thought we were on a hidden camera. I can see if the restaurant was packed and busy, but I would say there was no more than 5 tables full, and they were aggravated also. It's a shame to drive 2 hours for such a bad experience.
Great atmosphere and friendly team! We have eaten there 4 times in the past couple weeks and everything we had was great! The crab Mac and cheese, pizza, fettuccine and loaded fries are fabulous!
Food is good. Wait staff is friendly but there seems to be management/training issues. For instance, someone at our table waited 20 minutes for a glass of wine while another got hers immediately. Soup came after entree. Vegetable missing from entree. Hash browns missing from breakfast plate. Prices different from what is stated in menu example $8 glass of wine is billed at $10. $3 mushroom side billed at $4. Etc. The host stand staff also needs management. They insist on reservations even though most tables were empty. Had my son and his little ones sit in the sun on the outside seating when shaded tables were available. At least twice maybe 3 times our food was delivered but we had to wait for flatware as the food got cold. My husband took some prepared flatware from another table and was admonished by what appeared to be a manager for doing so. We love the new lodge. My husband says, “The only disconnect is the restaurant “. We will return to the lodge in the future and hope the restaurant makes some improvements.
Waitress was very nice, but service was slow, it took almost an hour to get our food and the place was half empty, they were out of blue moon, once we got our food, the fries were room temperature and overdone, overpriced for sure
Can't beat the ambiance of the beautiful Hocking Hills. We had one mediocre entree and one fabulous one. The Cajun Shrimp Ravioli is outstanding! High.y recommend this dinner entree. Raspberry cheesecake was also a solid 10/10. The grilled pork chops were disappointing as they were 2 breakfast sized thinly cut pieces of pork with little to no ‘chop'. The lodge and restaurant are lovely. Service was top notch. I enjoyed my visit there immensely.
Food was ok - service and food were incredibly slow. The hostess Amy helped out so much and the only reason we didn't cash out after the app and leave. Too bad because the atmosphere is nice especially if you are staying at the lodge. Very relaxing. Food could be better but overall fine. Maybe another day and another server would be a better experience.
We were so disappointed with our recent meal at Rock House Restaurant. The last time we visited we had an excellent Cajun meal, 5 stars. This time started with a cocktail that was mediocre (not great mix and little alcohol), had a salmon club that was literally about 3x3 inches. I got a salad instead of fries so it looked VERY pitiful on my empty plate. Very blah tasting. For dessert we ordered beignets...they were gone. We did get a piece of apple pie on the house. Again, very average tasting. This is such a beautiful venue. It should have food (which it did in the past) to match the location. Won't be back until there is a new chef.
Excellent service! Wait staff are awesome. Professional, kind, helpful, quick.... All the things you want in good service. The food was very good, considering it is a state run lodge. I thought the prices were high for what it was, but for the most part, they were well prepared meals that were not over salted. We had all of our meals at The Rock House and would go again
Rock house Restaurant was the worst food and service we have ever experienced.
I’ve eaten here with my family three times since the lodge has been open. The food is mediocre and the service is slow. There are not many food options in the area, but I would suggest seeking elsewhere for a meal. You will spend a considerable amount less and the food and service will undeniably be better.

My family of four and I had an excellent first-time visit at the Rock House Restaurant.
The menu is comprehensive — there’s something for everyone — and as a craft beer lover, I appreciated the array of options on tap (also a note - the bar outside the restaurant is wonderful place to unwind pre or post meal).
The dining room itself is relaxed, but polished - with an incredible view to-boot.
I can’t relate to any of the negative comments below whatsoever. Would happily come back on a future trip to Hocking Hills!

The restaurant was mostly empty, but we still had to wait for 20 minutes to be seated. There were quite a few wait staff, but it still took almost 10 minutes for one to stop by and acknowledge us. Cooks must have been in short supply, because the food took longer than I would expect.
It wasn't until some of our food was ready that our waitress stopped by to ask if we wanted her to bring it what was ready or wait for all of it. The thing that remained was an order of pancakes and a breakfast wrap. The wrap I can understand, but pancakes don't take long to make.
If the wait staff were slightly more attentive and the least bit friendly it would have been more bearable. The food was decent in the end. I can accept being short staffed, if the waiter checks on the tables.

So, I was on here looking at the reviews other had left. I was torn about whether to try it or not, but ultimately, my wife and I did stop in for dinner.
What a delightful experience we had!?!? The meals we ordered were delicious! Our server, Colleen, was wonderful, attentive and polite. There were no disappearances or long delays. The food was prepared to our liking and was done in a timely manner.
We have no complaints at all. It was a great place to eat!
We just ate here for Valentine’s Day weekend and had a wonderful experience. We were quickly seated for our reservation. Our waitress, Mirissa, was very attentive but didn’t rush us. We had the spinach artichoke dip which was pretty good but I would highly recommend the pork chop….smoked and juicy it stole the show. We also got the Sasquatch burger which was cooked well per my request and the brisket on it was so good I might order that next time we visit. I also appreciated some local wineries on their wine list for us to try! Don’t worry about the negative reviews and give this place a try!
