I just happen to be going through scutch today I noticed the tavern was open! So I stopped in and had a late lunch.. I have the Tavern plank burger. I believe it’s called with the mushrooms and onions and cheese, and I had chippers and a cup of the French onion soup!! it was all very delicious, but I have to tell you the soup was to die for!! it hit the spot
Very nice guy working.

You just have to go here to experience it! Eric (the owner) is fun to talk to. Please support this gem of a business. I think he said it was built in 1830, originally used as a doctor’s office. It’s a comfortable, casual place. Lots of brick and wood beams old stained glass windows as decor in various places. We’ve been there 3 times so far to eat. The food is very good. Even a tossed salad is special….not just lettuce with a few pieces of tomato. Friday night fish is exceptional…..no heavy breading on the fish. Just a dusting of some sort, and it is cooked perfectly. To top it off, I don’t care for dessert, and I especially don’t like bread pudding. But I did try my husband’s bread pudding with bourbon glaze…..I loved it! So then I said we had to also try the peach cobbler, and of course I loved it too. This place could turn me into a dessert lover. And desserts are served in special glasses. It’s just a treat to go there. They have specials on Sunday, (pot roast, chicken have been recent ones) but you also can order from the menu. Just go! Go more than once!
I really struggled with my review on this place and leaving it a three-star and maybe not lower. I absolutely hate leaving less than positive reviews for local mom and pop type restaurants. However I'm just going to tell it how it came because I was really disappointed. I'll start with the Ruben, it was the most expensive Reuben I think I've ever got and had the least amount of corned beef on any Reuben I have ever had in my life. The sandwich tasted great so I was really unhappy with the price versus what I got. The shrimp basket was fine. The atmosphere of the place is really nice laid back and chill with a cool interior.

Great little Bar/Restaurant. Take step back in time and enjoy the atmosphere and service. Plenty of parking. Stopped in on a 3 hour ride to rest and relax.

Over Priced for simple food. The Band on Thursday was way to loud could not even enjoy talking to date. The food was fine but I can go to my local legion and get better food for half the price. I don't see me going back when there are other places to try in the area.
