Shaker's Fish Market

Bought a lot of clams. Gritty and not fresh. They were all alive but so gritty and lacked flavor. Second experience here and both were not all that great.

Great local seafood market!

I’ve been coming to the store for the last two years I believe since they opened. From the beginning until now it has definitely gone through a change. Same owners but different employees. Each time I go into the location I am 75% of the time unsatisfied with the quality of the fish. So many times recently I have gotten fish from there and it smells fishy, which is always assigned that the fish is old and not fresh. Today I went there to get a few things and I thought I would grab some shrimp. I saw a bunch of shrimp in the front that they were stocking from frozen bags. Looked like grocery store type bags of frozen shrimp that they were cutting open and pouring into the display case. They had a sign Marked that the shrimp was $14.99 a pound. I just went to Heinen‘s and purchased a pound of shrimp for $8.99 a lb. Same shrimp, just far less. So I understand that a small fish supplier like this needs to charge a little bit more than a grocery store chain because of the volume. Totally acceptable, there is a butcher right next-door that I will not hesitate to go into and buy meat from and pay more because I know the quality of the meat is so much better than any grocery store. But to go into this small fish store and pay twice as much for something and have the quality not be there just does not make sense. Sadly, this will be my last time going to this location. I simply cannot afford to spend $80 on something that I can go get it somewhere else half price and have it be better quality.

Stopped in the store. Was pleasantly surprised with their selection of wild caught fish. Very clean. I would highly recommend stopping by and picking up some fresh fish. The workers were knowledgeable and helpful.

I have been going to Shaker's for the past four years. Everything I have gotten from them is amazing. I love raw seafood which can be a huge risk. Not here. I get sushi grade tuna, oysters, and mussels from Vince and the crew that are unbelievably delicious. I cook the mussels in white wine but everything else I purchase I eat raw. Great fish mongers!! Get yourself one.

Very clean store, the fish selection is grade A from crab & shrimp to everything in between. I was even offered a courtesy bag of ice for my travels after paying, that was really nice. They offer an array of convenience items like fish fry, lemons, oil, etc. to help with your coking.

Always warm and welcoming at Shaker Fish. Vince was kind enough to fillet the last of the perch for me this morning to make the fish fry.
