Because the food is awful!! We were captive guests here because we overnighted at their marina (another bad experience as we were quoted a 25-30 dollar a night rate and then asked 100 when we arrived). So, with nowhere else to go as the town rolls up the streets at night, we ate here. Got burgers which were not good. Fried were so-so. The entire place was a study in indifference. I later saw another review of worst owner and this would certainly be true given both the rip-off on the marina rate and then overall experience in the restaurant. I was leery as the docks were rough at best and, the restaurant lacks attention to detail. They won't be in business long. Not doing the city a favor with this type management.
Warm beer and cold undercooked processed burgers with cold undercooked tater kegs! We arrived around 4pm., they were not busy and well staffed, NO EXCUSE!
well lets see where do you start ... ok i know . call the phone number above.... no one ever ane ever answers and actually if they dont answer you assume they are closed and dont go there .. thats the best thing that ever happened to you.... so lets phone is broke.. the boat was broke and was supposed to open april 1 and finally opened june 10th.... so recap .. phone broke ... boat broke.... next lets take a look at the web site ... oh its broke tooo ... are you picking up a pattern .. no phone .. no boat in the water its stuck in the parking lot lol... and well to be honest the web site which has info from 4 and 5 years ago ... to be honest its not broken ... none fo the owners can remember the password and none of them know how to go on a lap top or smart phone and recover any password and see it black on white .. lol so boat sittting in the parking lot ... broke.... phone doest work ..... broke .. web site they cant remember the PW... i kid you not .. im good but im nto good enough to make this up hahah... so bottom like is ... dont go .. they will tell you they are "meaning ot get a phone" lol they were closed for 2 1/2 months nothing to do and they cant design a new web site or get a cell phone? humm .. dont go by me go to yelp and read the reviews .. all the 1 star .. dirty, terrible service.. read the replies from brian the owner .. rude an threatens to beat up people that leave them bad reviews .. guess hes gonna be busy beating up people with all the bad reviews ... just a couple guys that bought the place thinking it would be fun and now they are wayyyyyy over their heads .... dont waste your time eat in downtown and sit on the riverwalk to see the river .. oh and the menu ... 3 sandwiches ... and 6 or 7 appetizers .. they used to charge a fee to use credit card.. not sure if they still do ? they owners could write a book.. HOW NOT TO RUN A RIVER BAR / RESTAURANT ... dirty and terrible service too
River side Cafe was a great place to eat and enjoy watching sports!! The food was good and the beer was cold! Great customer service!! We will return for sure!
Great place to eat and relax Carmen is very welcoming will definitely be going back
We had a great time at Skippers, in the afternoon, with "virgin" adult beverages, 'cuz I'm driving and responsible, and had a good time window shopping at all the shops in New Richmond. Our waiter/bartender/Jack of all trades, was attentive, courteous, professional and kind. The nachos were excellent, w/perfect Cheese to Chip ratio! Yummy, indeed.
Our table ordered together. One order was there in less than 10 minutes. 20 minutes after ordering the waitress told us one of our items was out for the night. Even though a table that ordered after us just got served 2 of the same order. Then the order that was changed was delivered but one of the original orders was still waiting.
Fun atmosphere but staff was not wearing masks which was concerning.Food was good and price was reasonable.
We went for lunch on a beautiful Saturday... it was busy but they told us to seat ourselves... we grabbed a high top on the river side. Our server was great! He grabbed us our first round and thr nachos... loaded. Yum! Hot, fresh and so good. We ordered a chicken quesadilla and a veggie burger with cheese and fries. 32 minutes later we still had no food. We had to get going so I places my card to pay at the end of the table and that's when they realized we didn't have food. He went to grab it, and promptly brought us our meal. The veg burger had no cheese, was cold and the fries weren't even fully cooked. Quesadilla was good, chips it came with were all crumbled. All in all, go to hang out and take in the views... not for the food
Enjoyed this little find in New Richmond, Ohio! Friendly staff, great food! Prompt service and will definitely go back.

Waited for 20 minutes to be acknowledged after sitting down while all waiters and waitresses made eye contact with us, ignored us and served the others that came in after us. Got up and walked out.
3 of us older folks visited 6:30 pm on 6/13/20. Wait was 1/2 hour for seating; we discovered the slow turnover was due to kitchen slowdown. Seated abt 7 pm; waited 2 hours for our hamburgers! We only stayed bec we were desperate to be out, esp on the water, & we were semi-regulars under prev owner, so we wanted to support new owners. They obviously are going for a new demographic, w/4 TV's (all tuned to women's boxing thanks to Covid 19!) & very loud rock music; we had to shout to carry on a conversation. Our waitress Lavonn was absolutely adorable & we hold no grudge towards her, but kitchen obviously had a major meltdown. We plan on going back, but prob on (hopefully) a more peaceful week night & w/the kinks worked out. Good luck new owners! And keep in mind the main draw of this place in the past has been the RIVER & a PEACEFUL atmosphere.Old Fogey signing off...
What a great place.. something old school.. Stop by say hello have a cold beer and a burger.. Or maybe a shot of Jack straight up with a little George Jones on the juke box..
I came here on a Friday evening about an hour before sunset and absolutely loved watching the sun go down over the river. There is a nice, laid-back river-life ambiance. The food is very good and fairly priced. (The crab-cakes were some of the best I've had anywhere.) Ducks love to frequent the side of the boat and it is fun to throw fries to them and watch them all scramble for one. Overall, this is a great place to come for food, drinks, socializing, or just enjoying the river view.
Atmosphere here is very friendly welcoming and overall a great vibe to have some adult beverages and good food. Really happy we came here! Beautiful day, good breeze off the water and we hung out, socialized and enjoyed the Reds game on the flat screen tv.
