Friendly greeting and was seated immediately. Waitress promptly took out beverage order, served it and we ordered dinner. Food was quality we expected. We had a pleasant experience.

Stopped by for a late dinner on a Thursday night. Nice interior and we had an excellent server. However, the actual food was not very good for the price point. Mac and cheese with brisket. Just a bowl of macaroni with brisket on the noodles and cheese sauce poured on top. Made the brisket slimy and had no texture or flavor. Not what I would consider Mac n cheese at a nice restaurant. My partner got meatloaf and Brussel sprouts. Meatloaf had no taste and the brussel sprouts were charred but still not cooked properly. Very crunchy. The app was the hush puppies. 4 very large hush puppies. Outside was almost black and the center was raw. Better to make them smaller and fried properly. Overall not a very good experience for the price. If it was too close to closing time just tell us the kitchen is ready to close if that's the reason. Unfortunately we have been told that's the quality you normally get there

i will say, my husband and i ate at the downtown newark location a few tines and were less than impressed but we had them cater an event at cherry valley tap room and it was absolutely fabulous. our friends and family from all over usa were all happy with the meal. we went back to newark location since and food was steller.

My sister and I enjoyed a lovely visit here last week. We arrived late Sunday afternoon for apps and drinks. We ordered the loaded fries and added pulled pork. Just delish--the perfect balance of cheesy, carby, and salty. Even though it was after brunch hours, we asked if they had any monkey bread left over from brunch service. Our waitress checked and a few minutes later, we had a delicious serving of hot monkey bread delivered to our table. Sweet and chewy--this monkey bread was outstanding! We did not want to impose on the kitchen and said multiple times if it wasn't available, it was no problem. But I'm so glad they had it! It made our whole day. While I haven't had a full meal here yet, the apps I had and the awesome service (and the kitchen's flexibility) definitely left me wanting to visit again!

Service was poor, with a server who was very inattentive. No check ups for drinks and I was brought the wrong bourbon. Burnt ends were ordered and the portion was very small, especially for $22. The majority of my burnt ends was fat pieces. The restaurant has potential but lacks service and portions.

The smoked meats are great, not to big on the sides or the price. I think if they gave larger portions for the money it would be a little better just not impressed with the sides or the flavors. But if wanting good carnivore meal it's fits the ticket

What a wonderful experience...We have been to the Barrel and Boar in Gahanna quite a few times so we found ourselves in Newark. We really enjoyed brunch at their Newark location. The restaurant is quaint with that old building vibe. The service was spot on - Abby is a rock star waitress. I had the Caroliner which is basically shrimp and grits with 2 fried eggs on top which was delicious. Wifie had the big breakfast which was unique but equally as delicious. This place is worthy of a return visit...

Blackberry mule and pork belly and broccoli were great. Bartender (maybe named Brook) was also great. Other servers were also friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. I plan to return the next time I'm in town.

This place is AMAZING from the time you walk in you are welcomed by friendly faces as well as the aroma of smoked food. We tried several appetizers corn, grilled watermelon but the shrimp and grits were the stars of the evening. Nice portion great flavor profiles nice size shrimp and plenty of sausage. My Husband got the barrel boar burger and I had the buttermilk chicken and veggies. Everything was great. Tim the G.M continued to check in on tables if your in the area do yourself a favor and stop in. You wont be disappointed

This was our first experience here. Absolutely could not have been happier. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful, the food was beyond anything we expected. The were full with reservations but the manager suggested sitting at the bar. The waitress/bartender was Jenna B. and she did an amazing job. Thank you so much for making this date night one to remember.

On a whim we went to Barrel & Boar tonight, I ordered the salmon and was absolutely shocked about how good it was.. You know when you can't stop saying how good something was? That's how good it was. Perfect and very tasty. Great flavor. I hate it when you order salmon and it either tastes like it came from the freezer, tastes fishy or comes out dry. It can so often be a disappointment. This salmon dish alone will make me return to this restaurant. I gave the chef a compliment and he came out to thank me. Great young man named Colten who has a very bright future ahead of him. It was honestly the kind of dish you would expect to find in a gourmet, expensive restaurant. I'm glad I can get that kind of meal locally, affordably and casually. We will be back.
