I was feeling under the weather and was thrilled to hear they had sancocho. For those who don’t know, sancocho is a comfort food (soup). This is no ordinary chicken soup - the yucca, & plantains hit the spot & made me miss my mom’s cooking. I had it with a side of tostones (patacones) which are twice fried green plantains and great when dipping in a sauce - I dipped them in mayoketchup. Sancocho was a little too salty for me, but I don’t like salt.

Heard about this place from a friend online. Sooooo happy I came and tried it! I got the pork chops with yellow rice and stewed beans, my husband got fried pork with yellow rice. Both came with a small salad, mine had 2 whole pork chops and they were tender, juicy, and so flavorful! The stewed bean are also amazing, can eat alone or pour over your rice which is what I did and it was delicious! This place tastes like I just stopped at abuelas house! We will definitely be back!

I would love to give it a 5 star but I have to be honest. This review is more about the smoked meat empanadillas. The lady told me smoked pork and my thought was smoked pernil or roasted pig outdoors since it's a puerto rican restaurant but actually seemed liked bacon cubed with lots of fat with a sweet sauce, took only 2 bites and couldn't eat it. The bistec encebollado empanadillas was delicious. I would love to go and give the other food a try. If they would like for me to help them with the smoked pork I can.
