good flights and yummy food. The shrimp and grits are delicious
I’m not sure what was more disappointing—my meal at Schnitz Ale Brewery last night or the blatant misrepresentation of it on their menu. I ordered the Chicken Confit, described online and in-house as “Chicken Quarters over seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes.” For $28, I expected a classic preparation: chicken slow-cooked in its own fat until tender and flavorful, with crispy skin and savory, herbaceous notes. You know, actual confit. Instead, I received a sticky, sugary mess that had no business calling itself confit. The chicken was drowned—smothered—in what tasted like honey or syrup. It was disgustingly sweet and inedible; I couldn’t make it past one bite. I had asked for a salad instead of mashed potatoes, trying to lighten the dish, but that too was compromised—polluted by the sweet, gooey sauce that had oozed over everything on the plate, including the seasonal vegetables, which were rendered just as nauseating as the chicken itself. To her credit, the waitress seemed empathetic and did consult the kitchen, but came back with the worst possible answer: “That’s how we do it here,” per the chef. She also claimed it was listed on the menu as honey-coated. That is simply not true—it is not listed that way on their website, nor was it on the printed menu I saw last night. If you’re going to stray that far from a traditional dish—especially one with centuries of culinary history—the very least you can do is describe it accurately. To serve a sugary glaze and call it confit is culinary malpractice. If I wanted dessert chicken, I would’ve gone to a carnival. Schnitz Ale Brewery should either revise their recipe or, at the very least, stop misleading customers who know what chicken confit is supposed to be. Until then, I’ll be taking my appetite—and my money—elsewhere.
Delicious food and some very tasty beer
We had our Company Holiday party and Samantha went above and beyond for us. Amazing time.
Always amazing, great beer, 5-star food, and a superb staff. Bravo bravo. It's a fantastic restaurant that just happens to brew awesome beer! You won't be disappointed coming to Schnitz Ale.
I LOVE SCHNITZ! 😍
Disappointed, ordered dinner and was not impressed. Over cooked, vegetables, and cool potatoes .
Great service, great food, phenomenal beer!! Love coming here!
We come here often. The food is amazing! Highly recommend the smoke haus platter.
The schnitzels are out of this world—crispy, delicious, and perfectly cooked every time. And the craft beer selection? Incredible! Each pour reflects the care and passion they put into their brewing✨😋

I came here at a Thursday evening for dinner. Nice staff and good food. But the music is blaring like a night club without a dance flior. Very unpleasant.
I really want to like this place... but why do they make it so difficult to do so?! My husband and I went on Saturday at about 3:30; pretty low crowd level. Stood at the front of the house and waited to be seated. About 5 minutes go by, a server/food runner(?) came by and didn't say anything. My husband asks, should we just seat oursIelves. This young man answers... oh sure, I was just going to ask you if anyone came over to you yet (as he never looked up at us, until my husband spoke first). This person says pick whatever table you want and I'll follow you with menus.. your server will be over in a minute.. (again, most tables were open). We sit down.... at least 15 minutes goes by ... we see a server spinning her wheels (literally) around the almost empty dining room... running around, but never seeming to be taking orders or deliverying anything, but also you can kinda tell purposely not catching our eye or turning around fast when finished with the other table by us. Finally my husband nicely says when she gets close enough... whenever you have a chance we'd like to order drinks... she responded with an annoyed "I'll be right with you".... then proceeded to go to the front of the house and help seat new guests that just walked in. It seemed like they were a little low on servers and morale? I don't even know... We got up and walked out... and then proceeded to go to another bar/restuarant in very close proximity (corner of snow/pearl)... got great service and great bar food as usual! I was reluctant to even try Schnitz Ale again after a few less than stellar visits since its opening. Prior visits noted overpriced, skimpy, average (at best) food, a weird sausage board dubbed as a "charcuterie" board, which came with no bread, crackers, etc. We offered to purchase bread or crackers to go with the sausage/mustard board and were told they didn't have anything like that on hand... so weird. Will not be coming back here; there are so many other places that actually act like they care that they have patrons and serve way better priced and tasting food! The Schnitz Ale building is very cool and the outside patio has been updated so nicely, just wish the service/food matched the look!
If you were to ask me what a perfect dining experience would be, it would be the experience we had at Schnitz. The food: impeccable. The beer: amazing. The service: outstanding.
We had a large-ish group (eight people) and Hannah could not have been better in her service. She was incredibly kind, friendly and patient. She was so helpful when it came to helping decide what beers/food would be best to have when we were torn between the amazing options. Truly the best service experience I’ve ever had.
The portions were HUGE and everything was so delicious. The atmosphere was spectacular and I cannot wait to go back.
This is a very cute, modern brewery with a nice patio area. The patio was dog friendly 💜 The food is very good. I had the meatloaf dinner that was not on the menu. It was one of their specials. Our server was awesome and checked on us often. I recommend checking it out.
Sam killed it. Thanks for treating my family like family! Service was great
