On our way back home, we stayed the night near Perrysburg, OH, where we found the excellent Lupita's Cantina, @lupitasperrysburg. They have a vegan menu with vegan protein options, including vegan shrimp, which is really unusual to find. I was able to get vegan shrimp fajitas, imagine that!! The food was quite good. They also have great margaritas that you can get by the carafe, which is fun and a good value. I wish we had a place like this near us--we'd be there all the time. We'll definitely stop here anytime we're in the area. We met the owner, who was very friendly. His family has a few other restaurants in the area, Cocina de Carlos (with ADDITIONAL vegan options!!). He said they even used to have a fully vegan restaurant, so they know what they're doing with vegan food. The restaurant itself is really tastefully done, and has the largest tequila collection in the state, if you're into that. The building is historic--I guess it was the first Ford dealership or something like that--and there are a number of historical photos displayed in which you can see a lot of the historical details that are still present, so it's a very cool space. And the overall vibes are very good. They have a patio that looks like it would be great in the summer. I hope we can make it back then! Highly recommended. Updated from previous review on 2025-04-09
We ate here for the first time last night! They were of course very steady for a Saturday night, but they seated us quickly despite being early to our reservation. The service was quick and attentive, the tacos were delicious, and I loved the variety of side options! They also had Saturday specials and had a deal on margarita carafes, which I feel like is unheard of on weekends. Our new favorite Mexican restaurant!
This family owns a few Mexican restaurants and they all have clearly marked vegan sections of the menu. Here they have vegan shrimp which I feel like is a rare vegan find

This has quickly become a favorite. The food is fantastic, the service is fast, and you don't have to yell at the person across the table to be heard over music.
Dietary restrictions: The queso chicken is great for anyone on protein only

Love this place . . . definitely our go to for Mexican. Recommendations include trash tacos, queso chicken (add on shrimp), quesadilla loca, fajitas. Current special is Pollo Tropical - it’s delicious, hope they keep it on the menu!
Regular salsa is pretty mild but can request spicy.
They have a very impressive tequila selection (and regular tequila tastings). I love the zero margarita - light and refreshing, not too sweet.
If you save room - both the flan and tres leches are very good.
Almost always sit on the bar side dining room - Corrine and Laura epitomize quality customer service.

Fatty food, not well seasoned. Bean were so salty, I could not eat them and the meat was flavorless. You can cook much better Mexican food at home.

Having spent a cumulative several months in Mexico, and loving the food there, Lupita’s Café is a very welcome reminder. It is amazing to me what the majority of people around here believe to be authentic Mexican cuisine.
We sat in the outdoor area (also very authentic) and were able to enjoy fresh air, and even a light breeze along with our meals. If there is one thing - just one thing - I would change for the sake of authenticity, it is that the long white wall in that area - in Mexico - would most likely be a didactic mural depicting Mexican culture, history, faith, and life, or visions of Mexico's past, present, and future. Such murals are pretty common from what I have seen and I believe they help to show ALL people a better understanding of the nation's rich history and culture.
Lupita’s Café IS REAL. The food was great. The service was quick, attentive, accurate, and cheerful. A very good experience I look forward to having again soon.

We love Lupita's and everything about it.
I could write a book on it. I will just say they are pleasant, fast, reasonably priced, with good food. The building is really cool and the people who work there are great. The owner is there quite a bit and is always pleasant. He knows how to make it happen.
