Expensively underwhelming.
The food was overall fine with the chocolate mousse being delicious, but for $180 meal + tip, I would hope it would be delicious. Alas, not the case. My wife's beef Wellington was soggy and doughy. My surf and turf was just ok. Not particularly flavorful.
The wait staff were very kind, but at times were a bit awkward and not suited to an intimate dining atmosphere.
Unfortunately, unless the food improves, we won't be returning.

The kitchen really needs to take Beef Wellington off the menu. What was delivered to me was a very expensive yet disgraceful attempt. The puff pastry was completely soggy, the vegetables were rock hard and barely seasoned, and the potatoes were raw.

For what’s being charged, this is disgraceful. It’s a real shame, too, since front of house was delightful and the atmosphere wasn’t too bad.

Please don’t try to extend yourself beyond your culinary limits. If you can’t deliver a dish the way it’s meant to be enjoyed, don’t offer it!

Very well done. Beef Wellington is one of the best I've had. Drinks and service on point. Overall quiet and delicious. One of the few quiet places left in this area. Highly recommend.

Our visit to Rose and Thistle was nothing short of outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the warm and inviting atmosphere set the stage for an unforgettable evening.

We started with the whipped feta accompanied by grapes and bread—easily the best appetizer I’ve ever had. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and each bite was absolutely delicious. Alongside it, we were served warm bread with an herb butter that was equally delightful.

For our salads, I opted for the house salad, while my wife chose the Caesar. Both were fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Every component was well thought out and executed to perfection.

For the main course, I had the Beef Wellington, which was cooked flawlessly—tender, flavorful, and complemented by a delicious potato pastry and perfectly prepared green beans. My wife ordered the 15oz dry-aged strip steak with red wine sauce, and she confidently declared it the best dish she has ever had. The quality of ingredients and expert preparation were evident in every bite.

Beyond the exceptional food, the ambiance was incredibly relaxing. We brought our 8-month-old daughter, who remained content and calm throughout our hour-and-a-half dining experience—an undeniable testament to the soothing and welcoming environment of Rose and Thistle.

This restaurant delivers not only in culinary excellence but also in creating an atmosphere where guests can truly enjoy their meal. We will absolutely be returning and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an impeccable dining experience.

When you pay this much money for a steak, you expect it to be cooked the way you ordered it. That is not what happened here. I ordered it medium, but told her if they were going to be off be closer to medium rare as opposed to medium well. I should’ve just left it at medium. It came out almost rare. Because it was a fillet, I figured I would try and eat it, but it was just too rare so I asked them to please put it back on the grill and cook it a little bit more which they did. And when it came out, it was still less than medium rare, I ate it anyways. The only other down aspect of this was the extremely loud group of older people sitting at several tables pushed together next to me. Two of this group were literally screaming at the top of their lungs almost the entire time. The waitress and hostess were very friendly as was everyone else and it is a nice place but definitely an expensive restaurant and I for sure. did not get what I paid for.

Went here on New Year’s Eve… excellent decision. Beef Wellington was perfect, Cesar salad with anchovies… yum. Wife had the salmon and house salad, enjoyed both!

We had our company Christmas party at Rose and Thistle. It was a wonderful evening with great food, drinks and service. Chef Matt and his team went out of their way to make this an outstanding event. Thank you

Each time we go, it's PERFECT. We have felt, for the past few years, every time we go out to dinner, it's disappointing.... regardless of price. This is the exception to that recently (unfortunately) added rule of dining out. Chef-owned and operated, they do not disappoint. Seriously. I'm not someone who ever finishes their plate, BUT.... the first time I ate here since the new owner has taken over, I ate every single bite of my dinner, not to mention the salad (house with tarragon vinaigrette, yum!) and delicious bread...... Side note, I hate asparagus, but that was what came on my dinner plate. I loved every single last bite, not joking. I hate asparagus, I repeat. Tonight we had an appetizer, so I couldn't quite finish my dinner. But the appetizer was wonderful. It was a smoked butternut squash and feta spread on toast points and I couldn't stop..... I would feel shamey, but one cannot be blamed for succumbing to the allure of the deliciousness one is faced with from time to very rare time! This was such a time. Service is very personalized and attentive, the two lovely ladies there that run the front of the house do a wonderful, in-tandem job with hosting their guests, which is exactly how one is treated --as a welcome guest being hosted to dine in one's home. Very rare, these days. (I can only name one other such place, but this is not about them... ahemCIAOahem) DEFINITELY go to Rose and Thistle if you want to go out to dinner and pay (a small fortune) for dinner but don't want to be disappointed (which, you're going to pay a fortune for dinner everywhere you go ---for real---{even fast-food from what I hear, but that's not firsthand info because I don't go for fast-food} so you might as well spend that money at an actually wonderful place), You will NOT be disappointed. Truly worth the money, seriously. I do not joke about food. ?

Everything Was Nice

Food was excellent ?, service wasn't the fine dining experience we were hoping for. Our server had facial piercings and wasn't dressed for the part. She also came out mid dinner smelling like a cigarette which everyone at the table noticed. Atmosphere needs a little freshening up here and there but the vibes are there.

We met the chef, Matt. I let him decide on my meal (there were no bad choices). He sent out lamb which was beautiful and delicious.
