This place is honestly a 4 star. But because the food quality was clearly reduced this time, it's a relative 3 star rating.
Ordered through doordash for pickup to save time: 2 tenders with with fries and banana pudding for lunch. Chicken was just right, toast was just right. Pickle supplier has changed since last visit. The fries were about the same, maybe a little oversalted, but still good...
My banana pudding was half as much for a higher price, no wafer crumbles and whipped cream on top, and the pudding quality was vastly downhill. The ranch was different but okay, the hot ranch is just honey ranch now, but also was watery. The corporate quality cutting many feared when HCT was bought out, appears to have begun.

Worst value for money in town. Want a chicken sandwich combo? Like everyone els it’s about $12. The catch is the meat is thighs that may as well be chicken jerky. Want a breast like you can get anywhere els for $12? That’s gonna make it $16. Ok, that’s a miss, but let’s try the banana pudding. $5 for a 3 inch cup with 1/2 an inch of pudding, with no bananas, and fill the rest with nilla wafers and way too much brown sugar. Ok, another miss, how about the fried corn bread? That’s hard to screw up. Except it’s literally dripping oil. Taste was fine, over cooked a bit. But wow. I loved this place 6 months ago. Every single thing the suits pretending to be chefs have touched is remarkably worse than it was before the sell out. Do not waste your time or money here.

Well, HCT had a good run and it was good while it lasted. Once it got sold off a second time (the first time saw some noticeably good improvements to the menu) the quality took a hit overall. Pickles are gross now, crinkle fries aren't as good as the waffle fries and the batter seems different. There are also a ton of new selections on the menu which almost always means a dip in overall quality because there's not enough focus on the main attractions. I hate to quote the Orange Moron, but "sad!"

I ordered nuggets online and drove through to pick them up. What I received did not look like what they show on the menu and the employee I spoke with did very little to correct the situation. *** Update - HCT made the effort to contact me and try to make the situation right so I give them props for that and have updated this review.***

The chicken here is high quality and very filling. The spice levels taste accurate to their descriptions and get extremely hot if that's what you're there for! The sides are also really good. The place is a bit pricey but 1 meal is almost 2 meals for me to eat, personally. The food is a 9/10 from me.
My biggest issue is with the cleanliness of the dining area. The floors are always sticky which is gross and slightly appetite killing. But everything else about the store seems sanitary.
Overall a top tier chicken place.

We drove 35 min to visit your location and it did not disappoint. The food was DELISH! I don't eat meat or dairy and was super excited for your yummy vegan nuggs. But what- or I should say WHO- really stole the show was the young man at the counter- William. He was patient and beyond polite. It is easy to see that he takes pride in his job, and in the actual restaurant itself. If he told me he owned the place, I wouldn't be surprised at all. 'His generation' is often called lazy and unwilling to work or get dirty. But William kept busy keeping the place spotless, the drinks and to-go boxes stocked, and making sure everyone in there was enjoying their food. He is an absolute GEM and you should be proud of how he represented your store. Thank you, William, for being you!

I feel like this place won't last long. I've tried it twice, and the chicken was rubbery both times. It is on the way to the lake we go to every weekend so I really hoped it would be good. It is ridiculously overpriced and dried out rubbery chicken. I can't believe it was almost $60 for just me and two kids. I wouldn't mind if it was some really good food but it is definitely not.

drumsticks were really small, almost chicken wing sized for two separate orders. i didn’t see this problem with the n high street location. flavor was consistent between branches though which is nice.
Best southern cooking experience in Ohio. My spouse is from Tennessee, and he loved it, and so did his family.

We have been eating at Hot Chicken Takeover since they first opened. They’ve expanded their menu immensely and have continued to always provide the best quality fried chicken! I love spicy food but not everyone else does. So having a spice level that accommodates everyone is perfection! My family no longer lives in Ohio but when we return to visit this is always on the list of places to eat at least once while we are here. This was my first time ordering from Powell and the service was very quick and friendly. Every location tries to turn out good quality FRESH chicken as quickly as possible even when I’ve been to locations with lines out the door. Go to sides are; mac n cheese, slaw (it’s not a creamy, but vinegar based), and baked beans!

Updated review 6/20/24 - This location actually continues to get worse every time we try it (which is only a handful of times a year). Every single time, we say that we wish we would have just driven the three extra miles to the Westerville location instead. Tonight, they forgot ALL of the sides; had to go back and request them. The mac and cheese is bland, overcooked mush. The limp coleslaw is more vinegar than anything else. The assorted bone-in fried chicken was overcooked and dry. The boneless fried chicken breast had zero breading on it (it should have) with the resulting consistency of shoe leather. We officially will not be visiting this location again.
Original review: What type of Velveeta Mac n cheese happened here?!?! First time trying it from this new location, and I thought it was a fluke and my taste buds were off. Second time my husband corroborated and said "this Mac n cheese is straight garbage". Bring back the original recipe please!
