Applebee's Grill + Bar

My husband took me for my birthday recently. It was a Friday night and they were BUSY! However, the wait wasn't terrible. The place was clean, staff was friendly and food was fantastic! They have a lot of new menu options too and that was awesome! This Applebee's is definitely worth it!

My kids went to the bathroom and was blammed by a pink brownish hair and she said stupid kids these days and took a paper towel out of the sink and blammed them for it when they didn't throw a paper towel in the sink they was washing their hands and that lady was on her phone in the bathroom she was a waitress an she wasn't even going to the bathroom or on break she was on her phone for like 20 minutes when she could be working but no she wasn't I wont be going back to this place from that rude waitress another lady went into the bathroom and she was really nice to my kids .The was my kids were treated that was ridiculous they wad doing nothing but washing their hands.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared.

After driving roughly 12 hours from Arkansas back to my hometown for the holidays, my wife and I—an active-duty military family who does not get to come home often—took our elderly father (who has health issues) and our two young children out to lunch here on Christmas Eve. We arrived shortly after 2:00 PM, not realizing until after ordering that the restaurant was closing at 3:00 PM due to the holiday. The time was posted on the door, but in the excitement of being home with family, we missed the fine print. Had we known sooner, we would have gladly gone elsewhere so we wouldn’t be a burden.

When the food arrived, nearly everything was cold—the steak, potatoes, and fish—except for fried items. We are not the type to complain, so most of us ate the food anyway, despite it being overcooked and cold. My father, however, could not eat his fish and politely but firmly asked for a new one to be made, not reheated. He did not yell or curse, though his tone was firm (he is elderly and on medications that can cause agitation).

Shortly after, the manager approached and escalated the situation unnecessarily. While initially saying a new fish was being made, he then accused my father of yelling, cut him off mid-sentence, and told him, “You don’t need to explain yourself.” When I tried to calmly step in and de-escalate the situation, the manager walked away and muttered something along the lines of, “Maybe next time you should go somewhere else on Christmas Eve.” That comment was incredibly unprofessional and disappointing coming from a manager.

No apology was offered for the cold food, and nothing was taken off the bill—which I paid in full. To make matters worse, as my wife and child were using the restroom afterward, staff reminded us yet again that they closed at 3:00 PM, despite us already knowing and actively leaving.

I completely understand holiday hours and staff wanting to get home—but basic courtesy, empathy, and professionalism should still apply, especially toward elderly guests, families, and those who don’t get to spend much time at home. Unfortunately, this experience left a very poor impression.

The salad bowls were dirty when we received them. I would have hated to see the plates before my food was plated. I am normally one to point these things out. But after sitting for six hours at the wheeling swim meet, I just wanted to get home. Thank God our applebees (the three near us) none are gross like this. The waitress had way to much going on. Idk if any waitress had half the tables she did. Large tables. Anyway, it was gross. We will not be back to this location. Fix your dishwashers. 🤢🤢

We will be back to wheeling on the 23rd and will definitely not pick applebees this time. Even though its our favorite restaurant in our area.

Some of you may assume I'm being picky, but I'm going to review honestly. Server was outstanding, food was unique and enjoyable, but I cannot award a five-star rating because of the on-table, predatory machine. First of all, I came to a sit-down restaurant to be served. I don't say that egotistically, but it's not my job to process the transaction. This isn't mcdonald's, and I'm not visiting a self-serve kiosk. Secondly, as an adult, it only took me a couple of taps to not order anything but still add $3 to my bill. My server immediately removed it upon complaint, but what would happen if you were sitting at this table with a bunch of children? How many people have paid for garbage that had nothing to do with their meal because their five-year-old grabbed a shiny thing and started pressing buttons and they didnt check their bill?

You provided five-star service with a five-star meal and are receiving a four-star review because you over complicated a simple transaction of food and service for payment with a predatory device that has no place in the environment. Get rid of this stupid on table electronic device or remove its billing capability, and we will talk about your fifth star.

I went for lunch. It took forever and the food was just ok. The restrooms are disgusting. The entire place is ancient.

Food was great something wrong with card readers or their system and my card was ran several times essentially locking it. Outside of that it was good.
