I’ve never been told I couldn’t order off the kids’ menu—until today. I had Gastric Sleeve surgery a year ago, and I order smaller portions because that’s all I can eat. Not to save a few dollars. Not to be difficult. Just to get through a meal without getting sick.
Today, I was told: “A medical condition doesn’t make you a child.” And honestly… it ruined my day.
After weight loss surgery, eating out becomes one of the hardest parts. Not because of the food—but because eating out is how we connect. It’s how we celebrate, catch up with friends, feel normal again. And when you’re made to feel like a burden for just trying to participate—it hurts.
Sharing a meal doesn’t help. It actually makes me feel even less human, like I’m not even worth my own plate. Sometimes I leave the table hungry just to avoid the stares or the questions.
This journey is already full of challenges people don’t see. I just wish more places—and more people—led with kindness. You never know what someone is going through. 💔

I stopped in on Saturday to have the all you can eat breakfast buffet and it definitely hit the spot. The bar was very well stocked and the food was delicious.
