I have been in a few times now, and the food is always top notch. Mostly generic American items on the menu. Definitely some of the best carrot cake I have ever had at a restaurant.
I just found this the other day coming from NorthCoast Movers on Miles Road, The food is very good as well as the drinks. Try it yourself.

Most restaurants are either affordable with a limited menu of burgers, pizza etc. Or high-priced offering more elaborate items. The American Tavern offers both at reasonable prices that will please a variety of tastes. The one downside is parking where people drive around looking for a spot and leave. It would be nice if they could fix it.

Quick visit for lunch, it came out quick and cooked to specifications.Everything was good here, but there were skunks recently nearby so the atmosphere was literally a little less than perfect. Still quite good though.

Family outing with granddaughters 8 & 6 , they enjoyed the pasta. The meatball sub for me was perfect ratio of meat, sauce and cheese. We will go back again when in the area.

I got food poisoning after eating dinner there last night. I'm 99.9% sure this restaurant is the culprit since I skipped lunch that day and didn't eat anything afterwards.My order consisted of 1) a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle 2) cajun fries, and 3) a seltzer with a splash of cranberry.As far as taste, the burger seemed fine, albeit a little greasy and the fries were overly seasoned.Unrelated to the food poisoning, but still annoying, the waitress brought us the wrong check and I only noticed after paying. She had to get the manager to void the transaction.On the positive side of things, this is a typical local greasy-spoon pub. It has a very homely and intimate atmosphere and it would have been perfect for the kind of low key family meal we were looking for had it not been for the aforementioned problems. The staff were all very nice and accommodating.Overall, I would not recommend eating there for obvious reasons.

Accomodating, I only stopped by for beer with some friends
Staff were very friendly, prices were great, and the food was incredible. I love that they had walleye on the menu as a regular dish. Not enough local restaurants offer that. I wish I lived closer to this place. I'd eat here all the time!

These are such good people running a true neighborly spot. I will be coming by more often. I had accidentally ordered my takeout to the wrong restaurant and I arrived to pick it up and they did not have it and their kitchen was closed. After a tough day this was the icing on the cake and I started crying at the counter embarrassingly. The staff was amazing. They fired up their kitchen and made me the closet things they had to what I ordered. They were kind and empathetic and the chef came out from the kitchen to hug me. Everyone was beyond accommodating and encouraging when I was embarrassed for breaking down after my day. Thank you!! Also the food was delicious as always.

I took one bite of my burger, it was really good. Then a roach crawled off my wife's plate. The owner apologized, then offered to make her a new plate. By this time her appetite was spoiled, I return my as well, the owner wanted me to pay for my plate, I replied I only took a small bite of my burger, he got angry, starched the receipt of 13.00 he walked away and slammed the door. I was still polite, but I wanted to tell all of his customers what happened, but I didn't I kept it professional. I feel he was very unprofessional and angry because I returned my food also. What's your opinion public?
