Wife decided she wanted to go out to Salato, I was less thrilled with the idea, last time I was there I felt it was expensive. It has only gotten worse. This place is pretentious, overpriced. I purchased a half sandwich, it was 7.00!

Called in advance of leaving home (I'm a bit of a hike from Springfield) to specifically ask if they had cannolis today, and was told they did. Made the trip out and placed an order - double checking before ordering that they, indeed, still had cannolis and was told they did. Waited in my car ten mins for the order to be ready, came back in and was told they were out of the ricotta for cannolis. I wouldn't ding a place for being out of something if I just came in off the street, but I'd called in advance and made a trip out that way (again, quite a distance from where I live) just for the sake of getting the cannolis. They wasted my time and gas (in this economy) and I'm also immune-compromised so going anywhere is a calculated risk - they are all factors that make a wasted trip out of the house more than just a little deal to me. I definitely won't be going back ever again. Also a heads up to future customers - the half order size for a sandwich is VERY small, it's better to just get a whole if you go.

This place used to be so good, but was terrible today.
Came in ordered food, then went off to the side to look at the pastry’s and seen a roach crawling along the counter. I do understand every place is going to have something so I politely told somebody and went to go get my drink. The pop was completely flat. Went to tell them and they said they would fix it went back and again completely flat, decided to get water and that’s where all the carbonation was. Then I got my food. I got the lasagna which was served in something that looked like Stouffers frozen lasagna and was $10 then I got my cheese garlic bread that had no cheese and was burnt. Needless to say I will not be coming back again. Used to be one of my favorites, but no longer what it used to be.

I have nothing but great things to say about this place, everything is so delicious! Everyone is so nice and it always smells so good there! We got a big box of the cream horns and squares and let me tell you. THE BEST!!! I highly recommend :) photo was taken after my family devoured the box haha

Amazing sandwiches, next level pastries and the best soda fountain you will ever find. It's just so sad they have such limited hours and that they don't use their brick oven anymore to bake the sandwiches. I still can't give them less than five stars though!

PSA this place is NOT a deli, do not go there and waste your lunch break like I did. I don't understand why they advertise themselves as being a deli when they're a bakery that will make sandwiches only on Saturdays.

Made my own sandwich and it was really good. Wanted a vegetarian sandwich option but I guess you can always make your own.

Something for everyone! Both a deli & bakery in one with great facacia grilled sandwiches, salads, carrot cake filled donuts, cookies, pumpkin rolls, a lot of tables, a few couches, & good clean bathrooms!

Good salads and good pastries!

Employees take forever and are extremely disorganized. I like the sandwiches but not worth waiting so long for one.

Salato Deli is a gem of Springfield! I was visiting from out of state and needed a quick bite for lunch. Walking in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The menu was full of unique combos with fresh ingredients. The bakery was very impressive too!The lady who took my order was incredibly helpful and friendly. When I went back to fill my fountain drink, it was awesome to see the kitchen assembling my order. My sandwich was finished within minutes of paying and I couldn't be happier. To top it all off, I realized I made a mistake with my order and the staff were more than willing to help me. It was a perfect experience!

Pretty sad. My Italian sub was mediocre at best. No sauce barely warm the end of a tomato that was hard to bite. Do not recommend

Worst sub sandwich I've ever had. First off who doesn't automatically bake an Italian sub? Wasn't even asked if I'd like it warmed. The Italian ham was brown and as tough as shoe leather. I was extremely disappointed. I was expecting something special and what I got was hardly edible. It also wouldn't hurt the robotic like staff to crack a smile or at least not look so horrified to be at work there. Plain ol' subway is wayyyyy better. I will never return here and I will let my friends know that they shouldn't either.

The place is nice and welcoming, good for a quick meal, the price is popular, the staff are friendly. There is also an American pastry shop next door. The music in the room is Italian, the selection is really tasteful!
