We stopped by Hickory Inn in Springfield and took our pizza order to go. First off, the cheese balls were amazing, seriously, if you come here, don’t skip them! They were the highlight of the meal.

As for the pizza... it was just okay. They were generous with the toppings and cheese, which I appreciated, but the crust really missed the mark. It was bland and underwhelming, which was disappointing since I had high expectations based on local recommendations. Maybe it just wasn’t cooked well that day, but crust is a big part of the pizza experience, and this one didn’t deliver.

Can’t really speak to the dine-in service since we took ours to go, but everything was ready on time and packaged well. Overall, I might come back to try other menu items, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for the pizza again. If you're a crust lover, this probably won’t hit the spot.

My sister and I walked into the Hickory Inn yesterday evening. Instead of getting seated, we were told that the restaurant was closed for the night. No explanation. Just asked to leave. Rude.

The service was very slow due to short staff, meals were not served together , I got my meal , 29 minutes later grand daughter, got hers, 10 minutes after that my husband received his. The food was at best average, dry steak sub, burrito ??? Not sure what to say, Alfredo was good ,certainly not the 100 .00 we spent . Was there for 2 hours crammed at a table that was high traffic, sure a fire hazard. Won't be back , and dirty dishes

Just another over rated restaurant. Pretty sure they serve frozen pizza or dough. I can taste the freezer.
Tried it twice and both times was not happy with it.

Food was good but our server was ok but another server was very rude when my wife (who can be socially awkward) Talked about her like we couldn't hear her.

Was highly disappointed in the bland pizza at higher end prices. Per description pepperoni pizza was Layers of pepperoni, over and under the cheese. This was far from case pepperoni sparse and under cheese. Lacked flavor. The Meat Lovers was a little better but use to frequent this establishment when younger but my most recent experience places almost any chain or other pizza above this pie on PI day.

Stopped in for a late night bite with friends. The pub-grub food was delicious (awesome turkey club!) But what made the night was the staff. We had an awesome time with our server and even the kitchen staff. What good sports and just fun people! Thanks for a geat night!

The way a restaurant used to be and should be. Excellent food and mostly the service. It was great! Our server “maybe Andrea ( she cashed out our ticket) was excellent. This is just seems like a good old time restaurant that is more focused on the customers and the food. We both got the pork chops which were enough to feed three people each. To be honest they were slightly dry but with the service and the atmosphere it’s easily overlooked. Other customers were getting pizza which looked great so maybe the next time we’re in Springfield, we will try that. This isn’t a restaurant for the “ foodie snobs”. Just a good old fashioned Midwest mom & pop restaurant. Will definitely be back..

After reading several reviews of the local restaurants this one seemed promising according to other peoples great reviews, but simply put NOT GOOD. Don't waste your time or money going here like we did, you're welcome in advance. And to finalize my review, the lighting was a bit much, i suggest bringing sunglasses or loosening the light bulb if you would like to be able to see anyone at your table.
