Disgusting experience at Old Carolina BBQ Company in Kent, Ohio. After waiting over 30 minutes for our food, I watched a tall cook with a beard take food off someone’s plate, put it in his mouth, and then keep preparing food for customers. Beyond unsanitary.
Two people in the back stood around chatting instead of getting orders out. The only saving grace was the host with tattoos and the young woman who brought our food—both polite, kind, and respectful. Sadly, their professionalism is wasted in a place with such horrible service and zero standard.

I see so many great reviews for Old Carolina Barbecue, but I wasn't pleased with the quality of their food.
Honeslty, the food was pretty bland.
Ordered a half gallon of sweet tea. As a sweet tea connoisseur, it was the first thing I tasted and it wasn't sweet or had any sweetness to it. I actually have a theory that I know if I'll like a restaurant based of their sweet tea. This theory has yet to fail me....
I ordered the pulled pork sandwich, which they forgot to add the slaw (which was an additional cost)... The sandwich itself was bland and dry. Even with the sauce, it just wasn't flavorful. 1/5
The mashed potatoes and baked beans were pretty good. 3/5
The banana pudding isn't your traditional southern banana pudding. So please don't have that expectation. 1/5
Even though this was my first time eating here. I would compare it to a City BBQ wanna-be.
I more than likely wouldn't eat at this restaurant again.
Braden and his team were wonderful! The food was phenomenal! Everyone had positive things to say! Brooke was amazing during the planning process! Highly recommend.
