First time ever giving this low of a rating to Basil’s. If I could give a zero I would but I had to pick one. However, Cierra, our server gets 5 starts!

We had reservations for a private room 1:30 pm for 14 to celebrate our seniors graduation. We arrived at 1:15 but were told there was a bit of a wait as the previous party was late to their reservation. After waiting 30 mins we were told they only had 2 servers because the third one called off and they would get to us when they could. Three of us sat down at the bar in hopes to grab a drink. However, after 15 minutes the bartender came behind the bar we were just chatting with our party and looked her way and that’s when she snapped and said we’re really behind, understaffed and I don’t know when I can get to you but if your waiting for a drink it’ll be a while. (The tone was the issue) The serving staff was clearly trying their best and we saw our server (the one called in on her day off) come in and without any hesitation jumped right on setting us up in a different location other than our original spot. By now it’s 2:00 and we were happy to take the spot. Apps were ordered, but took over an hour to come out. Our server was double sat with another large group and some drinks weren’t brought out because the manager needed to get the alcohol and also change the Diet Coke. Finally our main dishes were ordered but not before we asked if we would get our apps and drinks after seeing other tables come in after us almost done with their food. Our server Cierra was awesome poor thing was doing all she could. We asked for the manager, Brett came out. We all quickly saw he was angry and annoyed to have to speak with us. Once we explained what we had been experiencing he became verbally aggressive and challenging. He was over talking my fiancé it was clear he couldn’t care less about our experience. Once we asked about the bourbon and Diet Coke he was further bothered and rude because he had to go downstairs to get the bourbon and change the Diet Coke out. He explained that he was understaffed and we asked why seat other people when tables aren’t taken care of first. No resolve offered by Brett except he would get our drinks and apps out to us. Finally got our food at 3:15. Food was subpar which is rarely the case, even then no follow up by the manager. We are highly disappointed with the way Brett was managing the restaurant and his lack of concern for his staff and patrons. I hope the owner takes a look at today 5/25/24 and doesn’t take we were understaffed as an excuse. That was definitely the issue but controllable by showing patrons some courtesy and adding wait times in order to manage what you can. That way you can give that Basil’s good service and great food experience to everyone. Felt like a Dennys at 2 am to all of us. Minus the server Cierra she was awesome.

We had a reservation at 6PM on a saturday night. A couple were in line at the hostess station before us and I informed her we had a reservation. Her reply was 'all our tables are full, I dont know what to tell you' and after a long awkward pause said 'I'll go see if anyone is getting ready to leave'. She was gone for some time and returned to seated the couple before us who did not have a reservation. The whole awkward exchange was off putting and gave a negative first impression. However we did get seated shortly there after. The entire wait staff was VERY young and seemed a little scattered. 3 times a cook had to come around to finish off the plates and serve them. At one time there were 10 dinners waiting to be served. The staff were visible very busy and trying hard but just seemed disorganized. The drink order was totally wrong.....but I would say the food when it arrived was VERY good and we felt the prices were appropriate. At such a busy time we felt they could have used some management assistance. We'll try it again some day.

Stopped here with my niece and her kids after spending the day at the Dayton AirForce museum. The food was fantastic!! My great nephew said it was the best burger and fries he’s ever had. I had the open face ,caprese and we shared the tomato bruschetta. My nephew had the steakhouse burger and my nieces had the child’s burger and fries.

Terrific creative menu, great service, but way too loud for casual conversations.

We had a very large party of folks and all of the food was delicious. The service was very good and the prices reflected the quality of the great food.

I'm not sure what happened to this place or if they were just having an off day. Food used to be fresh, have great flavor, and was cooked just right. Things have really taken a dive.Today, we got artichoke jalapeño dip, which was more like heated up cream cheese with a few chunks of artichoke thrown in and almost no jalapeño. Bland.Cheesesteak was over-cooked on a dry bun; Penn Station does a better job for less.Asparagus as the vegetable side... over-cooked, soggy, drenched in butter.Risotto tasted like mushy rice.Chicken caprese dish was something you'd expect off of a food truck... not a nice dine-in restaurant. The only thing that was decent was our kids' chicken tenders and fries... so basically, what this restaurant has reduced to is a fried fast food joint at a premium price. Too bad because a couple of years ago I would have said it was best in Troy. The service was ok, and it still looks pretty cool inside... but the kitchen definitely needs an overhaul.

We had reservations for eight, and we weren’t even acknowledgedMultiple families around us we’re taking care of, and we never even received our drink orderSeem like they were more focused on their LGBTQ lifestyle than taking care of a normal family who just wanted to have a nice EasterI wouldn’t send my worst enemy to that restaurant!!If you enjoy being treated, like garbage, come to this restaurant
