Stopped here with my niece and her kids after spending the day at the Dayton AirForce museum. The food was fantastic!! My great nephew said it was the best burger and fries he’s ever had. I had the open face ,caprese and we shared the tomato bruschetta. My nephew had the steakhouse burger and my nieces had the child’s burger and fries.

Terrific creative menu, great service, but way too loud for casual conversations.

We had a very large party of folks and all of the food was delicious. The service was very good and the prices reflected the quality of the great food.

I'm not sure what happened to this place or if they were just having an off day. Food used to be fresh, have great flavor, and was cooked just right. Things have really taken a dive.Today, we got artichoke jalapeño dip, which was more like heated up cream cheese with a few chunks of artichoke thrown in and almost no jalapeño. Bland.Cheesesteak was over-cooked on a dry bun; Penn Station does a better job for less.Asparagus as the vegetable side... over-cooked, soggy, drenched in butter.Risotto tasted like mushy rice.Chicken caprese dish was something you'd expect off of a food truck... not a nice dine-in restaurant. The only thing that was decent was our kids' chicken tenders and fries... so basically, what this restaurant has reduced to is a fried fast food joint at a premium price. Too bad because a couple of years ago I would have said it was best in Troy. The service was ok, and it still looks pretty cool inside... but the kitchen definitely needs an overhaul.

We had reservations for eight, and we weren’t even acknowledgedMultiple families around us we’re taking care of, and we never even received our drink orderSeem like they were more focused on their LGBTQ lifestyle than taking care of a normal family who just wanted to have a nice EasterI wouldn’t send my worst enemy to that restaurant!!If you enjoy being treated, like garbage, come to this restaurant

We made a reservation and was promptly seated on time. Our food came out nearly an hour later - our server was sweet and attentive and stopped to inform us that it wouldn't be much longer several times. We ordered bruschetta (which was delicious), a steak burger, and a fried fish special. The burger was missing several ingredients and lacked any flavor and the fries were cold, overdone, and tasted burnt. The fish was good but the coleslaw they came with had sat out long enough that it was warm. The atmosphere and service was great, but the food was just not, and was such a huge let down.

We’ve visited 3 times now for crab legs. The past two times have been awful: Cold, freezer-burnt, chewy, grey and nasty. Service was slow, table wasn’t bussed, etc. I didn’t review the first bad experience we had here, came again to give it another shot and it was worse.

This is a date night or family "nice dinner" staple for us. We love supporting local and we are rarely disappointed at Basil's. The menu frequently rotates at least 2-3 new things if not more, while somehow managing to keep my favorites: the salmon, bbq ribs, and JF burger are all recommended! Market toss salad is also a winner for lunch or dinner. Add the chicken! This experience was slightly different. We sat down in a Thursday night at 5:30 with a party of 3. Very attentive service soon diminished as the restaurant loaded up to capacity (almost) shortly after 6:00. Lots of younger (under 40) diners with tables of 6 and 8 common. We are in our younger 40s so it was nice to see groups frequenting Basil's instead of a franchise chain. This was not our servers fault, to be clear. She was simply overwhelmed with tables and larger ones at that. It was to the point where glasses were so dry and for 15+ minutes that my 8 year old son was eating ice because he was so thirsty. I was on my way to the bar for self service refills when our server finally noticed and RAN for the water pitcher. We will give it another try... but ownership without Todd seems different.

Steaks were very overdone for medium, salmon under cooked it was like sushi. Fried green tomatoes were great.
