The Grand Restaurant & Tavern

This is an unusual place. It looks like it used to be quite fancy, but has slowly accepted compromise after compromise.When I arrived large sections of the menu were unavailable. The staff seemed more suited for a dive bar than for serving lobster and prime rib. One of the bar tenders was dressed in skin-tight leggings, and the other was shouting over the bar guests to the booths to see if they wanted more shots or beers at random intervals.There looks to be a lot of history to the building, but it is not well maintained and most of the charm seems to have been covered over. I'm not sure what the opposite of "lipstick on a pig" is, but this place is really suffering from it. It's like painting over a marble building or something.The food was of good quality, and the menu (were it to all be available) was compelling, if not a bit dated. The prices were on the low end for what you would expect from an upscale seafood place, though probably apropos to the current state of things and the relative pricing of the area.With a change in management and a renovation this place could really be something special. As it stands, I think the other restaurants in the area are a better bang for the buck.

I can't believe I waited this long to eat here. The food is so delicious I would pick it any day over any other seafood restaurant. Service great. I will definitely be back and I highly recommend this restaurant.

Zero stars is what this place deserves But……..This place was so horrible the food was cold and my boyfriends shrimp was boiled with the shell on and lightly sprinkled with old bay and that’s it and the bill was outrageous $80 for the disgusting food they served us. And poor waitress serves it was mediocre. Would not recommend.

The owners were very welcoming we had never been here before the food was excellent the place was extremely clean and the service was excellent and very friendly I can't say enough about how great this place was will definitely go back

For the price, you'd think that sauces would be made from scratch, not fast food packs. Maybe we just came on a bad day. Steak was basically raw when ordered medium. Mac n cheese tasted exactly like Kraft Mac, powder cheese. Appetisers were barely warm and the marinara sauce was cold (some may like it that way). Burgers look like premade patties from Sam's club(not from Sam's club though). Cheap food, high prices. Recession must be hitting hard.

Food was uncooked, took a long time for the waitress to check up on us, fries were cold, terrible customer service, place was a disaster. My buddy got the steak was cooked.... barely, all in all will never be back was expensive. Not worth your time.

This restaurant is trash, between our whole table we experienced cold and undercooked food, everything is cheap bulk garbage served with cheap packaged condiments, nothing looked or tasted fresh. The food costs way to much for such low quality. The restaurant is uncared for, dinngey, and needs maintenance. power outlet covers missing, air vents just tossed half way in the vent hole. Holes and broken ceiling tiles everywhere. Staff were kind but incredibly undertrained and

I've driven by this restaurant several times decided to try parking was a little difficult at the rear food was fantastic

I am from South Louisiana. Please DO NOT attempt to feed shrimp thas not been Deveined. This is not a vein, it is the intestional tract. I dont eat crap! The wait staff, however was teriffic.

We have heard a lot of good thing's about this place, and when searching for a new place to go to for date night, decided to check it out. We went on a Saturday evening. It wasn't very busy, we were able to walk right in and seat ourselves. We waited 20 mins to order and roughly 2 hours for our food to come to the table.. We had a babysitter and honestly didn't mind the wait, we would have been happy to have a few drinks and enjoy each others company.. But.. Our waitress didn't check on us at all while we waited, we had to get the attention from another waitress to order more drinks, check on the status of our order, and when it did come, she had to get our silverware, napkins, etc....The food was... Ok. I understand that we went to Waverly Ohio for seafood.. Its not going to be the best, but some things just didn't taste right. We had the New York Strip, the Surf in Turf, and oyster's. After the long wait, our food wasn't hot. The oysters were extremely salty, and we didn't finish our steaks. They were not cooked the way we requested, cold and had a seasoning on them that was off putting. Our waitress gave us our food and we didn't see her again. The nice waitress working the tables near ours, gave us our check. We didn't complain, we were there a total of 3 hours and at that point we were ready to pay and get the heck out of there.

Delicious food, large portions. Huge oysters and steak cooked to perfection. Just don't sit at the bar, young pettite bartender had a nasty attitude. Whatever she was going through she definitely took it out on customers?

I wasn't expecting much, but must admit to being pleasantly surprised by the Grand Tavern. It's not the swankiest place I've ever been, but from what I could tell the place was clean and offered good food at reasonable prices. All of us were pleased with our meals, I particularly enjoyed my NY strip steak. Compared to many restaurants these days, service was good. Our server wasn't the friendliest, but she was at least attentive. Overall a positive experience, would definitely return if in the area again. Next time, I think I'll order the stuffed shrimp. The people at the next table ordered it and it looked great!
