This is a typical diner with good food, good service and reasonable prices. They all look like they work hard and have a large selection. They have about 8-10 types of pies till house was wonderful! A slice of homemade pie for 3 bucks and some change is totally worth it! We ate at a tavern in town one nite and they wanted more than double that for dessert. For some reason pie isn’t a thing of today and often not offered at other places but this restaurant has best! I don’t think they serve alcohol if you’re interested in that (hubby usually likes a beer with dinner).
Great home cooked meals. Plenty of choices. Best pie around. The homemade Poppyseed Dressing is a one of a kind. Well worth the drive. No diners like this in my area. Breads are awesome whether you try the white, rye or either cornbread. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Oh yeah—-I’ll mention the PIES again.
We recently had a weekend dinner at the Village Family Restaurant. I can't believe we have never eaten at this restaurant. It is set back a little bit from the road in a strip of shops with a large parking lot. There are specials, and when we ate there it was a sauerkraut menu in honor of the annual Sauerkraut Festival. I selected the cabbage rolls, which included a side of mashed potatoes with chicken gravy and a slice of wheat bread. We also shared the sauerkraut balls. We topped the evening off with the coconut cream pie. The service was very good, and the portions were large. The restaurant reminded us very much of one of our favorites in the Ohio Amish country. There is a small seating area outside with umbrellas, and plenty of indoor seating. I would definitely eat here again and try some of the other menu items. Tip: There is no alcohol served.
Stopped in to pick up lunch today. As I waited to place our order, I observed the cashier (who was packing the order for another customer and preparing the fountain drinks) had his mask on covering his mouth only. I could see in the kitchen and both employees that I could see were also wearing their mask covering their mouths only. In fact, the only employee I observed wearing their mask appropriately was the waitress. I left. Seems like such a simple requirement.
We both got a hotshot beef sandwich which was good, but not outstanding. Service was slow like they forgot we were there initially. We started on the patio, but nobody waited on us. Retreating to the dining area inside, we were still ignored for a time. They apologized profusely. Probably will not go back.
My wife had a pork tenderloin and fries. I had toasted sub (ham, salami, etc.) The tenderloin was very good. This restaurant is not for someone looking for atmosphere. It is for someone looking for reasonably priced and quick food to tied you over as you look for antique bargains. The fries were above average. The sub was average. The food was a reasonable price. Our waitress was very nice and helpful. This place is right in the middle of town, which is a good thing if you don't feel like walking any more. Just know that you're not getting anything really more than average to slightly above average food at a fairly reasonable price.
Sunday lunch. All food was very good at good prices. At outside which was nice. A good lunch all around.
My friends and I stopped in for lunch before the Waynesville Christmas walk. The food was good and server was awesome. As we finished eating and were using the restroom before we left, the new owner came by and introduced herself and asked if we needed anything to go. We had just received our bills and were getting money together waiting for the restroom. The owner came by again (not even 5 minutes after we finished our meals) and asked again if we needed anything to go because she had people waiting for this table! We weren't sitting around chatting because we were there for the event. We couldn't believe how we were rushed out the door by the owner at that - and there were only 4 people waiting!
We went in and ordered two lunch specials. It was a half hour later before we were served and never had an offer to refill our drinks. The food was just OK but the poor service was just that!
Nothing bad to say about this restaurant, reminded me of the small roadside places we'd stop to eat as a kid before all the interstate highways. The menu is fairly extensive, but nothing fancy or upscale. Food was okay, I had a sandwich and slaw while my granddaughter had chicken tenders off the kid's menu. Service was a little on the slow side, but our waitress did check back with us a couple times. Prices are very reasonable, and the place has a nice homey feel. Would not hesitate to stop back again.

We have dined here in the past and have always had good food. It was no different this time except we experienced extremely slow service. There were only two servers working for the whole place, and the poor things were doing their best to keep up with the dinner crowd. The kitchen was also running behind which didn’t help. Bottom line, good food and dessert, but not sure it was worth the wait.
The salad was HUGE and super tasty. Cute little home town restaurant too! Lots of choices on the menu and the restaurant was clean!
Great food to dine in or take out! Breakfast omelets are great! Burgers, fries and awesome onion rings. Great dinner specials!
Small town atmosphere family restaurant. Second visit was about the same as my first, good food at a reasonable price, but nothing remarkable in either. If you're simply looking to eat average food, this is your place; but don't anticipate anything exceptional.
