The store “manager,” Chris, demonstrated extremely poor customer service and could benefit from a refresher on basic customer service.

I arrived at the drive-thru to pick up a DoorDash order. Most Taco Bell locations and fast food chains in this area close the lobby late at night and direct delivery drivers to use the drive-thru, so I followed the usual process. At this location, however, the lobby is apparently open until 3 AM. I was told at the speaker that I needed to come inside instead. I waited for the cars in front of me to move, parked, and went inside as instructed.

Once inside, Chris refused to hand over the order solely because I had initially gone through the drive-thru. I completely understand not handing the order out through the drive-thru when the lobby is open. That is policy and reasonable. But refusing to give me the order after I came inside as directed was unnecessary, unprofessional, and counterproductive.

When I attempted to explain the situation and how it was an honest mistake, both Chris and the employee working the drive-thru were dismissive and rude. I asked for the drive-thru employee’s name so I could include it in a corporate complaint, but Chris refused to provide it. This lack of transparency and refusal to allow a customer (or delivery driver representing a customer) to report poor service is unacceptable.

This situation wasted time for both me and the customer. The customer’s order had to be reassigned to another Dasher even though I was present and ready to complete the pickup. She also had a second order from McDonald’s that I was delivering, so she ultimately received her orders separately instead of together.

This entire issue was avoidable and stemmed from poor judgment, lack of professionalism, and unnecessary hostility from the staff.

Absolutely crazy to sit at a speaker for 12 minutes while they clear who’s all in front of you. Then take forever to even take your order at the speaker then take even longer to get the MOBILE ORDER ready.
