We had almost an hour wait to get seated, but we ended up really enjoying our food! A lot of clearly labeled vegan options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I really liked the vegan scramble plate. I also got the garlic potato soup which was good but I did need to add a bit of salt. We definitely will be coming back. This cafe seems to be very popular, so be prepared for a wait if you arrive at a popular time.

When ordering my food, the waiter was very condescending towards me. I was hoping to get a specific meal, but to my disappointment they were out, so in hopes of not taking a long time, I ordered what was right under it. This meal item was steak and eggs. I am not a steak fan, nor am I an egg fan, but I was trying to be quick, as I have social anxiety, and ordering from a menu can be difficult for me. When prompted with how I wanted my steak cooked I said “Well-done”, which proves what I said earlier about me not knowing much about steak. After this statement, the wait staff looked at me in shock, and said “excuse me?”. They then proceeded to go on about how the steak was premium, and that well-done would not be ok at all. They went on about the price of the steak, and how it was of high quality. This made me feel very bad, and they treated me as if I was lacking very important knowledge. If you looked at me you would see I am a college student with little culinary knowledge, so a quick correction would have been appropriate. I was looking through the menu in hopes of finding something maybe a little more suitable for my taste, when they said they would fix me up with a medium-rare steak. I wasn’t really fond of this idea, but I went with it anyway. I didn’t want to make this anymore uncomfortable for me or my group. They then asked me how I wanted my eggs, and in fear of getting reprimanded I just went with what they suggested. This totally ruined the meal for me and my group, and it should’ve been a special dinner for us. After that, my brother’s girlfriend ordered a piece of pie, and then my brother asked for a coffee along with it. Instead of saying “okay”, this same staff member said “what do you say when you ask something of someone?”. My brother didn’t understand, so he repeated the coffee request. After the wait staff repeated their reply again, my brother just changed his mind and said “You know what, I’m okay. Thanks.”
I will give the cooks credit by saying the food was relatively good. Even though I am not a big fan of what I ordered, the taste was good. The service was not good at all.
I don’t understand how this treatment of customers is acceptable. I have worked in the food industry for years, and I have always been taught to treat the customer with the utmost respect and dignity. We were not treated this way at all. I understand that maybe this person was going through something in their life, so I wish them the best, but it also seemed like this person just had a unique/hurtful personality as a server. I would recommend speaking with your staff on how you treat your customers, and reinforce the idea of being kind to all. It is important to show love all to people, even if you assume that they are not as smart as you. They are just as important in this world. I pray that this server will realize what they did, and I hope that they don’t treat others how they treated our group. We had been to this restaurant before about a year ago and didn’t have any of these problems. I don’t know if there is new management or what, but something needs to be changed.

I love this place! The food is delicious…the cooks are amazing. The service is amazing…we love all of the people who work here, everyone has the best attitude. The atmosphere brings us back every time. I want to keep this place a secret but people should know about it and eat the delicious food and interact with the awesome staff. One of the worst servers I’ve had. Slow, angry looking, never smiled. She took a very long time to come get our order even though there were only about three other tables filled. But food was good when it finally arrived.

Super cute place. Went here for a dinner for two and was immediately sat. It might take a few minutes around dinner time, but it was worth it. Atmosphere is great and the carmi-goat-kale burger was phenomenal. I’d definitely come back next time I’m in Yellow Springs.
