I had extended family visiting from out of state for a weekend. Three of us on Sunday morning. Service was slow, we ordered the most expensive omelets on the menu, enjoyed our meal, accepted coffee refills and were chatting. Manager comes over to tell me 'it's time for you to move on' and stands there staring at us. I couldn't see the front door, but there was a line. If she had said, 'I don't want to rush you, but we have a line waiting, may I offer you complimentary coffee to go?' it would have felt different. I left my usual 20% tip for the server, paid the check, and we left. I was embarrassed for my guests, and never went back. I wish I had chosen any restaurant besides this one.

The Broken Egg is now out of business. So sad. We loved this place. Not sure if they will reopen.

Great food and service, I had the Ranch Hand. It's one of the places where you can tell you are in Ann Arbor, I can't explain it. I wish I was in the area more often.

Over prices and not very good

Walked in with wife, daughter-in-law and grandson. My daughter-in-law is very careful of my grandson not eating certain kinds of meat, including bacon or sausage. She ordered french toast for him, which comes with a piece of bacon and sausage. She asked to substitute a few slices of cucumber for the meat. She was told in no uncertain terms "NO SUBSTITUTIONS" If you want cucumber, I'll have to charge you extra. Really? Given the just ok food and the prices, I plan on never setting foot in that place again.

I've been to the Broken Egg a few times. Due to the prime location on main street at the edge of Kerrytown, I keep expecting the dining experience there to be better than it is. On each occasion I am left feeling underwhelmed with the service and overcharged for the food. Today I ordered an orange juice with my breakfast, for which I was charged $3.50. I am reasonably sure this was Minute Maid OJ. I also ordered a "breakfast stew", which was very tasty, but other than to drop off my check, the waitress never stopped by. Only three tables were occupied and there were at least two servers working. Before the tip, my bill for a single breakfast order came to $14.29. The woman at the register asked how things were, and I responded with, "just ok". She didn't ask me to elaborate, in fact, she didn't say anything else at all.

If you get the buffalo chicken wrap, be warned. It's literally sting carrots, cabbage and buffalo chicken. I'm sure some people may like that, but its definatley not a typical wrap. Other than that it's fine.

Breakfast, Brunch & good times with a great bunch. Seriously good breakfast, served fast and great service. The owner is a phenomenal person - anything she has a part of is done with care, professionalism and love. I love every opportunity I can get to grab a bite here. If you have never experience the broken egg then you must give it a try.

The broken egg is a cute little breakfast place, with very nice service. The food was good, but lacked presentation. Cute for a college town.

Will not return to this restaurant. Please don't let the fact they have a table of books as you enter and high chairs available fool you. Our server was pleasant and the food was fine however the rest of the experience could not have been worse. Ownership is rude and passive aggressive. This establishment is not kid friendly. If you plan on bringing your kids to eat here don't it will be awful.

I like the Broken Egg. I've always liked the Broken Egg. The food is solid and the service is always good, although not always especially friendly - maybe more business like would be a good description. We had breakfast there on Saturday, though, and the old Burger King slogan "have it your way" didn't apply. i had a "create your own omelette" and it was very good. But I asked if I could have turkey sausage, clearly listed on the menu, and was told NO. My friend asked if she could have crispy hash browns and was told NO. We both asked if we could have our toast toasted dark. Again, NO. I'm pretty sure the server mentioned this to the cook because they both appeared in the door by the kitchen and glared at me. The trouble maker! Our server did smile when I commented that there were lots of rules, but really. I think a little flexibility is in order. If we want our hash browns crispy and our toast dark, why can't we???

Lowest review yet... my eggs Benedict was great but my hubbys Belgium waffle was aweful - no flavor. My sons pancakes were great .. so 3 stars is fair. I did tell our waitress that the waffle was tasteless.. she had an opportunity to fix the problem but oh well

Okay, I probably would not even write this review if it were not for the two women at the cash register. When the one ringing up my bill asked how everything was I actually said something...not "everything was great" which apparently is the only answer they will accept. I had a suggestion: that they should offer a "side pancake" option on the menu as many other restaurants do. Instead the only option was getting a $7. Short stack. After all the extra charges a very simple breakfast for 2 people was over $40. This is ridiculous, it's Ann Arbor not NYC. Well they took offense at my suggestion. The woman behind me in line was also shocked at their reaction and said, geez you were only making a suggestion...and they asked! To top it all off the food wasn't very good...the omelette were dry (over cooked). If the owners ever read this...another bit of advice: for those prices you might want to update and clean the bathroom. Very disappointing experience all around.
