I have also lived all over the US and find Walmart an excellent resource. I have just moved to Alva and WalMart is a life saver!! If I need something that is not in the store, I go on line and order and have it shipped to Alva. I have used this option many times; ordering daily needs like trouser socks and clothing items to Christmas decorations and furniture (a chair).
A 24 hr store for groceries, toiletries, entertainment, and random supplies is a Godsend in the wilderness of NW Oklahoma. They may not have everything I want in terms of upscale groceries, clothing, and media, but they do a pretty good job and prices are fair. Also, my previous experiences with Wal-Marts have been in cities, where you get the dirtiest, nastiest, drug addicted, half-naked crazy people who come in and make you want to not shop there. Very helpful the employee stopped what they were doing to help us right away which is different than most deli associates who ignore and hope you walk away and the chicken was fresh and reasonably priced
