Bayou Jaq's Seafood Shack - Catfish & Boils

I came here after seeing pics of the seafood gumbo, and being from a line of Cajuns, I was excited to try it. The staff were very nice. I got the gumbo with side of catfish. The catfish were nice large pieces, well fried. I had to take half of it home.

The gumbo, while it had a nice flavor, was very disappointing! The ad photo shows crab claws sticking up out of it and SEVERAL shrimp. Mine had no crab claws in sight and one lonely shrimp plus the scrap of a tail. It was basically all sausage, which was tasty, but it should barely be called seafood gumbo. I wish I had taken a picture. The bowl isn’t very large for the price, in my opinion. I’ll post the photo of the ad.

Best crab and shrimp boil we have ever had. Shoot, even the waffle fries are awesome! We have been several times, during the week, weekends, afternoons and evenings and every experience has been amazing. If you haven’t been, and you love seafood, you have to try it. It will not disappoint!

My son and I had lunch there today. He had the catfish platter and I had the shrimp platter. The service was excellent, the portions were large and the food was hot and delicious. We will definitely go back and I highly recommend it.

Seriously y'all THIS place was phenomenal. The food was finger licking good. Bold flavors, juicy seafood, and a server that was helpful, pleasant and left us leaving with a smile and fully bellies. We will definitely come back 5/5 stars all around!

10/10 experience !!!!!! Thank you for a lovely Sunday. I love how thick the hot sauce is it coats the fish nicely, and I never had a tartar sauce with so much flavor. Staff friendly, food fast, catfish DELICIOUS waffle fries DELICIOUS. We got water cups even the water was good. These extra details are needed for your experience trust me it was very on point. Can’t wait to try something else !

Excellent everything, seemed understaffed but they get it done. Fried catfish is a must with Louisiana hot sauce. The crab legs and lobster tail were amazing. Beer selection was spot on.

My husband and I both got boils. I got the crab and shrimp boil and my husband got the crab shrimp and lobster boil. You have to get the mixed spices and spicy butter! So much flavor! We really enjoyed our dinner and the help we got from our server Jordan.

We decided to try this restaurant and since the pictures looked so yummy we wanted to give it a try! Sadly we were disappointed. Our shrimp and potatoes were undercooked, we got another meal that included and lobster tail( didn’t get a pic) that was way too overcooked. And the crab legs had a flavor that seemed kind of off. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night idk lol.

Everything about this place was great! The food was amazing! I had crab legs which were juicy along with shrimp, sausage and potatoes. Very flavorful!!! Also loved the service as the lady was very attentive and helpful when deciding what to eat. Will definitely be back!!!

I recently visited this restaurant and had a mixed experience. First, the positives: there was plenty of parking, the atmosphere was great, and the menu had a lot of appealing options. The staff was super friendly and welcoming, which made us feel comfortable right away.

For our meal, we ordered the Big Ole Shrimp Platter. The food was well-seasoned and flavorful, but unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark. The platter was advertised as 20 shrimp each, yet between two orders we only received a total of 24 shrimp. On top of that, the shrimp was slightly overcooked, the potatoes were undercooked, and everything arrived warm instead of piping hot.

While we did leave full, we also left feeling disappointed, as the execution didn’t live up to the great atmosphere and service.

I am leaving a one star review to match the warm food and half the shrimp missing from our order.
