When I travel, my goal is to find off the beaten path small local businesses to spend my money at. And one of my favorite things to do is to find really good home cooking restaurants. Well that is exactly what I did here with Katie‘s diner. It’s a small quaint older restaurant with a small town charm. Is the type of place that you go in and just take a seat where you want. Shortly after you’re greeted with a smile from a wonderful waitress. Our waitress was very sweet and very attentive. The menu is your typical home cooking menu and since I was there for breakfast, that’s what I had. I chose to get the chicken fried steak breakfast meal with over medium eggs, home style potatoes, and pancake pancakes. My food came out quickly and hot. One thing that was surprisingly terrific was I had the choice of how my chicken fried steak was cooked. Most people just deep fry their chicken fried steaks, but I had the choice of having it pan fried, which is how my mom used to do it. Nothing says homestyle cooking like that. My food came out rather quick and the chicken fried steak was one of the best I’ve had. The homestyle fries were cooked perfectly, and my eggs were actually over medium, many places overcooked them. I had coffee to drink and never had to ask for a refill. Several other employees stopped by my table to ensure everything was fine throughout my breakfast. Overall, it was one of my favorite breakfast restaurants that I’ve been to in a while, and I would go back in an instant when I’m in that area again. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place when you’re in town and if you live there and you haven’t been there, you gotta get out of your bubble. Enjoy!
