Spent the day in OKC and didn't want to cook when we got back to Stillwater, so Stables here we go. I had the open face chicken fried steak sandwich and fries. The wife got adventurous and ordered the chili cheese spaghetti. She was very pleased with her dinner and would most likely order it again given the opportunity. The chicken fried steak sandwich is quite large, and the best part is that you can actually see a nice size portion of meat inside the breading. The fries are quite tasty and the portion was quite adequate. I have half of both remaining for my breakfast in the morning ?. Our server was a very cute little redhead named Maddie, and she was tremendous. Very attentive to each of her customers needs, and the little lady has personality plus. A real joy to talk to, and she has a great sense of humor. Hopefully we'll have the chance to be her customers again in the future.

I think this is a must place to try again! We were on a return trip from Kansas and since we skipped breakfast we figured we'd find a place for lunch. I did a Yelp search and this was an option, it did not disappoint! The menu is quite extensive so I know I have to return to try. We started out with onion rings as an appetizer they were more like onion straws, good but I doubt I will try them again! I chose the Pulled Pork Sandwich w/side of Cole Slaw. Very tasty and I would recommend! I got dessert to go; Coconut Cream & Lemon Meringue Pie - both were delicious and highly recommend both of those if that is your style pie! Now we arrived during the lunch hour and they were pretty busy but we were seated right away. While we waited there is plenty of memorabilia to look at and yet another reason to return!

This was good food. The salad bar had lots of options and I enjoyed the good fruit on it. Chicken fried steak was pounded out properly and the breading was a unique mix between funnel cake and corn flakes. Slightly sweet and good. The wife said chicken strips were ok.

Food was hot and served in a reasonable amount of time. Salad bar always fresh and good selection. Service (if everyone shows) is very friendly and helpful. Unique atmosphere, and I love it! Slight complaints: one time my steak was gray (not grilled enough) but it was cooked correctly and tasted okay, forgot the other one so must not have been that important

Had the buffet the last two times we were there and the salad bar was well stocked and the hot food was good. However, they've now went to the process where they hand you the little machine where you have to pay your bill and stand over you while you're completing the transaction and the tipping chart pops up with no way to avoid it. Once again, another restaurant that has gone communist in handling payment transactions while they shame people into tipping, even if the service was not good....just be advised before you consider this place!

Will not not be going back.The place is run by teenagers to busy hanging out to wait tables. The food took ridiculous long after we ordered. Granted it was good food, but nothing to write home about. Two adults, 3 kids $110 and we were picking the cheeper meals. Go to The Local, or Hopscotch the food is just as good if not better and half the price.

I suggested once we approached Guthrie wet did pick a place.We decided on Stables Cafe' although there were plenty of other options. First we has to find a place to park whick turned out to be a short walk once we did.We walked right up to the hostess and we were seated right away. The menu had lots of options which I must go back and try!We ordered an appetizer what they called Mini Onion Rings, they were more like onion straws. They weren't there best I ever had but they were enjoyable.I chose the BBQ Sandwich - Pulled Pork & Brisket were the options. I opted for the Pulled Pork.There's tons of memorabilia to look at while we waited for our food. Very nostalgic!Our food arrived and it was looking very good. The Pulled Pork was delicious with a great smoky flavor. There was a side of coleslaw that came with the meal. I truly enjoyed the slaw! The only downside was the bun it didn't hold up as well as I thought it should. Other than that the meal was outstanding!With a place like this I sensed that the desserts would be good. So I ordered two slices of pie to go. I ordered slices of the Coconut Cream and the Lemon Meringue pie. They were outstanding!!!! I would definitely order either of these again!

I have visited this place many times over the years. It is just currently I feel I should share my experience the past 4 visits. Slow, small portions, unhappy staff and once again slow, as in kitchen. 40 minutes and counting has gone by to n a lunch visit. This is disappointing for sure.
We where sitting there at the stables cafe at the table waiting on service for 15 mins! No one brought us menus asked if we wanted drinks or nothing! I went and tried to ask for menus and the young lady said the would bring them to us. Which they did not! We didn't get any service for 15 mins! So we got up and had to leave!

Server was distracted. It took forever to bring water and ice tea. Also they give you small plate too start your salad. I was waiting for years to come to Stables Restaurant...but is not worth it!!! to much for buffet and you have to wait until they bring more pork bbq...other words...you will be eaten bones!!!! I requested some lemon and I got 3 thin slices and waitress said " Tha's all I have". Rude!!! VERY VERY DISAPOINTED!!!coming from Oklahoma City for nothing!!!Parking: Parking to small.
