Had the kitty chicken and it may be the best chicken I've ever had. Practically melts in your mouth.

Have dined here for years but only once in the past year...service and food have always been good. Not on this trip. Not sure what’s going on with the owner, management or staff but I took some out-of-town friends to City Cafe on Sept. 28, 2024 for late breakfast/early lunch instead of fast food thinking they would enjoy it, but ended up embarrassed and disappointed. The place was about 80% full of customers with 2 waitresses and - from what I could see - 1 woman in the kitchen. The waitress got our drink orders and some 20 minutes later got our food orders. Several other customers came in, dined, and left and our food never came. The waitress apologized for the delay and said it shouldn’t be much longer, the kitchen was just backed up. TWO HOURS after we walked in, the waitress said again that our orders were almost ready. A couple in a booth next to us asked how long we’d been waiting, and we said 2 hours. They said they had been there an hour and their food came out cold. The poor waitress apologized yet again and said they wouldn’t charge us for our drinks. (By this time, we were almost so full of refilled drinks there wasn’t much room for food if it ever came). We all remained patient and I jokingly reminded our friends that “I told you this wasn’t fast food.” Patience is a virtue and 2 hours and 20 minutes after we came in, our food finally arrived. It certainly wasn’t hot and the appearance did not reflect the price. We still ate it all because the kids were absolutely starving, and in the end, the waitress agreed to a 50% discount. Several other tables patiently dealt with this same poor service that day yet (amazingly) no one caused a scene. In years past the service was a little slow, but folks don’t mind so much because the food was excellent. The other customers we talked to on this day were just as consfused as we were about the difference on this day. Discussing with other locals the next day they said they’ve noticed problems lately as well. We didn’t blame the waitress at all...this was a kitchen issue. Whatever is going on needs to be remedied before City Cafe’s reputation is damaged. I certainly won’t be taking out-of-town folks here again until word goes out that things have improved significantly.

Food is consistent and made fresh. The wait staff is always friendly, and they always have a fresh made salad bar with a variety of items to choose from.

Had breakfast here this morning. Love the food and the service!!! My eggs were a little overcooked but I like them “ medium well” and I know they are hard to get just right, I even have a hard time getting them just right. I commend the cook for a delicious meal!!! And the waitresses for their friendly service!

We had a breakfast sandwich that was pretty damn good!!?? It had a generous portion of ham, an egg, some cheese all on some wheat toast?Features: Self dispensing hand sanitizer at both entrances/exits.

Parking: Parking on Main St and there's a parking lot out behind ?... Definitely ample parking, ADA compliant spots and wheel chair accessible entrances ??

Great homestyle cuisine. Everything was delicious. The prices are very affordable very large potions. The only reason I gave 4 stars for service was that the food took a while to come out. Overall it was a great experience.

Friendly staff, great biscuits and gravy. Start with a single because homemade biscuits are HUGE. Daily special are always good.

Kid-friendliness: Family atmosphere includes whole community. Can always count on the community coffee drinkers to play with kids.
