Hey Gang! We went here on a friends word. This was Lawtons' best BBQ! Well, not so much. This fits most home town mom and pop BBQ spots. Small, family friendly, with nostalgic ambiance everywhere.. and they were busy to boot! Very nice group of guys working there. We order meats only because that's where people rate and score good BBQ. We ordered hot links, sausages, and tips. Tips are rib tips with some bones and lots of cartlidge. Now I feel like this meat was cooked many days ago and microwaved to warm it up, which drys it out. The hotlinks were a 2 out of 5, and the tips were a 1 out of 5. Hot sauce was tart and real vinegary. But it gave me some flavor for the flavorless hot links. Now, to top off the experience (see pic), was this worth $22?? That's a hard no! Come on, Lawton!! You have to have a better BBQ to offer. If you want to have an experience!! Smokin Joe's Davis oklahoma. Still setting the standard!

This place is amazing!!!Small local place where the owner comes out to welcome you, take your order, and serve your food.My daughter graduated basic training from Fort Sill, OK, and the owner came out and thanked her for her service and treated her like GOLD!The food was amazing and there was plenty of it!!I would recommend this place to down to earth people who value good food and good service!
Spent $30 on food ask for mustard for hot link told meit would be $1 for it. Won't be back.

John Cooks catered a family gathering for us and the food and service was amazing...I have to admit that I was skeptical at first because I had stopped going there for years because of how much the food had changed...I left Lawton over 40 years ago and felt bad because Whenever I come to visit I couldn't get the Cooks bbq that I grew up eating...Im looking forward to seeing them sometime next week and ask them to cater another gathering..

I was the skinny white guy that came in wearing a baseball cap with shaggy long hair today March 6th 2024. I just want to let you know I thought your ribs were some of the best. You guys really did a good job on that. I'm not just some local joke saying that I graduated from the culinary institute of America and have worked some of the best restaurants in Atlanta Dallas Oklahoma City New York. I was just down there to take my dog on a walk around the mountains just north of Lawton while visiting family. Just looked up barbecue on a whim and found you guys.

People, food and service not what is use to be. But what is?10 minutes in to get acknowledged, another 15 minutes to get drinks.
We went with a large family group and did not disappoint. Customer service was excellent, and food was even better. Group favorites was the Real Pit Platter along with mac and cheese and variety of sauces. We even got a turkey leg to go. Definitely recommend giving this place a try!
The meats need more smoke , brisket was dry . I was really hoping it was going to be great BBQ, but it was just ok to me .

It's been some time since I've been, but while stationed there it was the place to get BBQ.I always use this place as the standard, which I judge BBQs and sauces. I haven't found any, that even come close. After 45 years, I've eaten alot of BBQ.
