Tucked between a laundromat and a tire shop that hasn’t had air in its vending machine since 2009, Donut Star doesn’t look like much from the outside. Neon sign half-lit, blinds a little crooked, but inside? Oh honey, it’s a saccharine sanctuary.

Now, let’s get straight to the glaze—the real superstar. This isn’t your average, store-brand, dry-around-the-edges circle of disappointment. No ma’am. The glazed donut at Donut Star is a golden ring of gooey joy that melts on your tongue like it’s got a crush on you.

Bite into it, and you’ll be smitten. The outside has that light sugar shell that cracks ever so gently, like it’s whispering “I’m sweet on you.” And the inside? Warm, pillowy dough that’s fluffier than your grandma’s praise. It’s a glaze of glory, a sugary symphony, the BeyoncĂ© of baked goods.

The regulars call it the “Halo of Happiness.” One bite and suddenly life feels a little more sprinkled with joy. Breakups? Glazed over. Bad day at work? Frosted feelings. Existential dread? Glazed and confused, in the best way.

Legend has it the recipe was handed down by a baker so sweet he once hugged a tax auditor. Folks say he measured his flour by the feel of the soul and could tell room temperature by instinct alone. Every morning, the crew at Donut Star rises before the sun to sugarcoat our reality—one warm ring at a time.

They don’t just serve donuts. They serve therapy. In a box. With napkins.

So if you’re ever near that faded strip mall and your heart feels a little hollow—swing by. Get glazed. Get starry-eyed. And don’t forget to grab two—because love, like donuts, is best when shared.

I had a chocolate long John with the white fluffy cream, and that was by far the best long John I have ever eaten in my life! I was passing through on my way from Texas and I will be making this a regular stop as I’ve passed through McAllister. it was so full of cream it was unbelievable! I wish I would’ve gotten another one.
