Absolute worst Mexican in town. Bad, watery bar drinks, bad service, cold food, light portions, the full nightmare. It's almost impressive how bad these people suck at their jobs, across the entire restaurant.

I would normally go to this place but since the last time my server chose to stay in the alcohol section and talk to somebody. The food was burnt and I got a piece of a pan or grill in my food and waitress didn't care, we needed refills and she wouldn't even come and refill them because she was busy talking,.

I buy a $40 gift card for my Brother and my Sister- in-law last year for Christmas in 2024 for their anniversary .. The anniversary was in April this year 2025 .. They said it had no money on the gift card … so plz check your gift cards to make sure they put it on there and get the receipts ..My sister must have forgotten that and throw it out on accident.. ( THE POINT IS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY PUT THE MONEY ON THE GIFT CARD THAT THEY GIVE YOU ) and plz keep the receipts put it in the Envelope for safe keeping.. I Just got back from Vk aka Vacation and I found that out today…

This is a good place to eat in Poteau, OK. The food has good flavor, the service was attentive and quick. The atmosphere is very casual. One demerit is that the food has very little heat, although the salsa was tasty.
When in this neck of the woods, stop in.

My rice was not cooked all the way, was still crunchy AND had hair in it. My boyfriend got food that had shrimp in it, and the shrimp was undercooked and still cold in the middle! We didn’t have to pay for anything since we had these issues! Won’t be back!
I've been eating here for a few years now. I even stay in Poteau for the sole purpose of eating at this place. I say that to preface my review, and the reason I'm giving a score of 4 instead of 5.
Upon arrival, the staff is pretty great at greeting you, getting you into a seat, bringing the chips, salsa, taking your drink order and asking if you want cheese dip.
The soda machine seems to be very hit or miss, and more often in the last few visits, mostly miss. Pepsi seems to always taste off or be mixed poorly and is bitter.
The chips sometimes seem like they've been left out for a while. The oil is old. I can't really figure out the combination that's causing the off taste.
The staff at times seems to be more interested in socializing than paying attention to their tables, unless you're part of their circle. It's usually not that busy but there have been quite a few times where I've sat with an empty glass for a while.
The beans are bland. Always.
They used to put potatoes in their beef and it was legit the best thing ever. I was totally addicted to it! I dunno why they stopped but they did, and I'm completely bummed about it.
I know prices are going up everywhere but it's frustrating that the quality of the food and the overall experience has diminished while the prices have increased.
The food does come out quickly and I mostly overlook any faults that I find, but if management reads these reviews at all, I hope you'll listen and make changes to get back to the taste and experience that motivates me to drive hours out of my way just to eat at LA Huerta.

Tamale was tiny, horrible flavor- sent it back. They were gracious enough to take it off the bill. The shrimp cocktail was amazingly delicious! Our server was friendly and prompt with bringing the food out and very funny

We stopped in with our kids after traveling all day, We expected to be there awhile as they were super busy it looked. Service was fast! Food was fantastic and we had no complaints. In and out with our bellies full. If we are ever traveling back this way, this will be the place my family and I stop!
