Large selection of very good ice cream, just ridiculously expensive. $30+ for 2 little single scoop cups, and two cones. It was delicious but tbh I probably won’t be going back simply because of the price

OK Traveler (OK Traveler)

Let me be clear so there’s no confusion about why I’m writing this. I believe this place deserves a solid five stars — but it also needs some honest feedback, which I’ll share toward the end.

First off, I don’t say this lightly. I’ve been to hundreds of restaurants and taco places. Honestly, I’ve lost count. At first, I was already a bit disappointed, but once I received my food and tasted the pastor tacos, everything changed.

These tacos are on another level. I’d easily rank them in the top five pastor tacos I’ve ever had in my life. That’s how good they were.

Now, for full transparency, here’s the rest of my experience.

The only reason I even noticed this was a Mexican restaurant was because of the small flag outside that said “Mexican Food.” Otherwise, I probably would’ve driven right past it. The building doesn’t look like a Mexican restaurant — it’s painted hot pink and dark gray, and the name doesn’t really tell you it’s both an ice cream parlor and a restaurant. It’s confusing.

When I parked, I saw it had a drive-thru — which is cool — but the parking lot was completely empty. And I thought, “How can a Mexican restaurant and an ice cream shop — two of my favorite things — have no one inside?”

So here’s my advice to the owners: your curb appeal is confusing and poorly executed. People driving by have no idea what this place is. Maybe locals do, but if you’re cruising down Highway 69 at 45 mph, you’ve got about one second to notice it — and your sign isn’t helping.

This is prime real estate — Highway 69 runs from Missouri to Texas. With food and ice cream this good, your restaurant should be packed, not empty.

Now, once you walk inside… the vibe feels off. It’s dim, there’s no music, and it just feels kind of sad. One person was working at the ice cream counter when I came in, but she didn’t acknowledge me — no greeting, no “I’ll be with you in a minute.” Nothing. She was making a banana split, and I get it, she was busy, but still — a simple “Welcome!” goes a long way.

I stood there for a while, even went to the restroom and came back out. Still no greeting. Finally, after about five minutes, she looked up and said, “Yeah?”

So I asked if they served food or just ice cream. She said both, pointed at the menu, and that was it. No smile, no warmth. I’m telling you, whoever owns this place — this is where many restaurants fail.

If you’re in the food business, you have to be a people person. I don’t care if you’re not the best cook or cleaner — if you know how to treat people, you’re already ahead of the game.

Still, I decided to stick it out and try the food. I ordered six tacos — two pastor, two birria, one chorizo, and one steak. The birria, chorizo, and steak were good, but the pastor… wow. I wish I’d ordered all six that way.

Next time I come back — because I definitely will — I’m ordering six pastor tacos.

In conclusion, those are my honest thoughts.
Please improve your signage so people know what you offer, brighten up the place, add some background music, and hire someone who genuinely enjoys greeting customers.

I truly hope my comments are helpful. You’ve got something special here — incredible tacos that deserve to be known far beyond the local crowd.

Thank you!
¡Fierro, pariente! 🌮🇲🇽

I honestly don't think the food is that good. My co-worker got ice cream and I ate some because it was bigger than he expected, but it tasted very artificial. The Birria Ramen was ok. I also tasted the beans and they were a little burnt. I don't think this place deserves 4 stars or better.

Best Tacos I've had tbh. I don't know why it took me so long to try this place, but they have a customer for life at this point. Also their horchata is excellent.
