Just finished my chicken dinner. Very good! Charlie Randolph would be very proud of this place that bears his name. Clean, polite young people behind the counter. I knew Charlie before he ever started a chicken restaurant. At one point he sold excellent hamburgers. He knew about good food and service then, too. And loved race cars.

My first time at Charlie's Chicken—ever, and it was awful! It was after 7 in the evening and we were hungry so we decided to stop at this location to get a bite. I had their $9.99 September special—came with 3 pieces of chicken nuggets, a drink, a roll and for sides, I chosed fried okra and broccoli grape salad. The chicken was cold and dry and the salad was loaded with red onion. The 2 stars are for the fried okra which is about the only decent food on our table. The place was quiet and the service was slow. Our friend had the meatloaf with mashed potato and green beans. Too much tangy sauce over the meat and the green beans were mushy! Needless to say, my first visit will be my last.
If you're in the area and need a place to grab a bite, I recommend this place. Very clean restaurant inside and out! We were greeted as we walked in by a wonderful staff. They were busy but they were all smiling and look like they take pride in themselves and their job! You choose your items, it's a cafeteria style restaurant if you've not been to one, then pay. I like the cafeteria style because you can look at the actual choices to decide what you want. You get your own drink and find a place to sit. There is honey for your roll or chicken on the table along with salt and pepper. I had the 3 piece chicken chunk meal, the chunks are big, unlike other chicken places... My husband had the jalapeño chicken, I think it's a limited time offer but I'm not sure. I tried a piece, it has some heat to it. It takes you to the point of, oh-no what did I do then it's like: j/k it's not THAT hot! Pleasant surprise!! The sides were very good also, my favorite part is the roll. They are warm and fluffy- yum! We got a piece of carrot cake to take home. There is a dessert display as you walk in and get your tray. They are in to-go containers already so that's perfect. I did try a small bite of it later, but our daughter took it from us. What I had of it was most and delicious. Definitely will return for another visit when we're in the area.
