I hadn't been there in years. My mom's family used to have family reunions there, and I hadn't been in the lodge since then (1977).
Same lodge, but updated. Nice, with a local flair about the Cheyenne/Arapaho tribes. The dining room has changed a lot, but was nice.
The lakes are dry, just a small channel going through them. Dam broke on the small one and then the large one failed.
Don't count on fishing.
The golf course looked to be in excellent shape. It's unique in that you're playing over and beside canyons. If your ball goes way back in the rough, leave it. Let the snakes have it, and drop another.
It has one of the nearest polls in the state, feed by natural springs.
That's my father's name!
Great RV camping spots.
Great state park, they are working to keep it up to date so there are so growing pains.
So as a former State Employee I was absolutely ashamed of the stay here at Roman Nose. I brought my kids and grandchildren here for a 3 day stay in the cabins and some great hiking and fishing. Thats about where the good stopped. Check in was great until I asked about the fishing, I was told that the dam developed holes and as such the lakes were gone. Not once was this mentioned when I called for reservations and the website is still promoting the fishing. If I would have known i would not have spent the money on 3 cabins for 2 nights. Someone should have said something about this upon making the reservation. Felt absolutely mis-led and deceived. On top of all that the restaurant was shut down, day of. Wow, no discount was ever offered, they were even going to charge $6 for 5 sticks of firewood. Absolutely horrible State of Oklahoma.
The lake is currently dried out. They drained it to fix the dam 4 years ago. The little general store, mining, feeding of the ducks and geese, and mini put put are still there and enjoyable.
No lake, lots of trail closures, overcrowded pool and few other things to do. More signage for exhisting trails would have been nice
The suite, is not very sweet. The cabinetry is strange. Not very useful. There's a large metal magazine rack, empty. Don't know why it's there. The only lounge chair is low and very hard to get into and out of. Seems to be a lot of wasted space where a nice suite could be.
Beautiful Golf course!
The general store is the best place to eat.
The trails are awesome.
Love the fresh springs and day use areas.
Great for birthday partys, reunions, jus a place to hang out.
Love the public pool also!!!!

The cabin was nice
Only 4 stars due to bringing your own cookery and cutlery, but it was mentioned in the description. Research was spotty in that the lakes were (are) closed, and the pool schedule was unavailable, but there are some hiking trails available, and the restaurant was good.
Clean & well kept duplex style cabins. Generous concrete driveways. Cabins within moderate walking distance to lodge and kayaking. The little store had good country style meals and good service. Bring your own pillows and extra bedding. Beds are not very comfortable, but they were way more comfortable than tent camping. (Though tent sites available!) Concrete picnic tables, fire pits and grills are in the backyard of the cabins. Great for an inexpensive family weekend trip, an hour away from OKC/Edmond.
Great golf course to visit. Features some challenging shots. Beautiful views as well.
Love it! Can't wait to see the lake again though. Miss that thing.
Beautiful but lake was dry and no cell service at all.
