Had heard nothing but good things about this establishment, prior to the closing and being new to working in town dining options are very limited! Had come in solely on recommendations, stories of how good the fish and chips were here!
Called in and the lady on the phone was pleasant and told me what my order would consist of and how much, when I got there to pick it up! I was greeted by two super nice women, we conversed about the food and if they were gonna branch out into making other dishes here. Hopefully they do venture into the Jamaican cuisine, because this part of Halton/Halton hills is under-serviced in that regard.
The older Jamaican woman(assuming was the owner) was telling me about the work she puts into making the food, and honestly it’s reflected. This is as close to having fish and chips from a chippy in England you can get, and possibly better. Got the 15$ lunch special, two giant pieces of haddock, fries, tartar sauce, malt vinegar and coleslaw, and with a Ting …bonus points for having Ting drinks!
Food was great, slightly greasy but that’s what’s to be expected, quality was great, fresh fish, and fries!
Thank you :)

read the reopening of Mum's in the local online news and thought I would try them (never eaten there before) because they offer jamaican cuisine - I didn't preorder and thought I would rush in to get lunch (had a total of 8 mins to get back online for a meeting). Wow, they were so accommodating! Paid, got my food (they even provided substitutes since certain aspects of the meal weren't ready) and was back home/online for my meeting while eating a great lunch!
(the only reason for 3 stars is because I got mostly bones with barely any chicken on them) - rice/peas was spot on and can't go wrong with the coleslaw.
if you don't mind going out to Milton, there's a food truck off of Steeles (parked at the car wash location) that actually gives you meat (not bones) - the rice/peas at Mum's is better though.

Worst onion rings ever! Had them a year ago and they were amazing but today they were so greasy and under cooked.

Best fish & chips I have had since Mary at the reliable taxi stand. Rose & her staff are friendly service is as good as the food. The Lunch special is great. The whole experience is Amazing
Parking: Don't knowI'd like to say maybe Chris needs to sit in the back peeling potatoes by hand - chip them. Be polite ask the lady to cook your fries longer PLEASE! Manners & respect go a long way.Rose is a hard working person kind ,& friendlyAt least she hires people that are willing to work they are not on welfareGC

I started going here when they opened, it was fantastic, back then, over time, the quality, unfortunately, has drastically dipped as well as the friendly atmosphere. Front of house is still excellent, the owner used to chat and engage with customers, now, she just buggers off and has others do all the work. Not a fan of someone cooking my food smelling of cigarettes and other substances, it's really off putting. I'll go for the odd poutine depending on who's doing the chips (the Indian woman they have working there always gives me raw fries so I won't order if shes the one making them), scallops if they have them in which seems to be never anymore. The only reason I'm rating the service and atmosphere 3 and not 1 star and same with the food is their one member of staff who's front of house, her customer service and her ability to cook saves this place from a total 1 star review. Which again, is very unfortunate as I used to go here all the time and recommended it to everyone I know, but now, not worth the time or money, sorry, I truly hope you turn it around and go back to how you originally started off as.
