Went in at lunch hour. Music was too loud. Service was very poor. We waited for quiet sometime although it was not crowded. The server finally stopped by to take our order. None of the goat dishes were available. Not one dish, the entire menu. They might as well have posted a notice at the door.We wasted our time and walked out. Not going in again.

Last night we ordered a family pack of biryani half an hour to 1 hour before closing through skip pick up. Trust me the food was completely spoiled and smelling like anything. It's not even very late just 16 min from restaurant to home that's it. I was not complaining about the taste of food as i know it differs from restaurant to restaurant but at least make sure you don't serve spoiled food. It's waste of money and we have to sleep hungry in late night.I am a frequent customer of chow Rasta oshawa and thorn-hill branches and i love them. But this place left me a bitter experience.

Always a pleasure to grab food from this restaurant. The food is mostly served on time. The food is palatable to the Indian spice levels and they customize to your liking. One of my all time favorites is the Chicken Ghee Roast Biryani.

I had Chowrastha(Ajax) taking care of my catering menu for a gathering at my home and I am very happy that I chose this place. All my guests liked the food very much and really enjoyed it. Food was packed very neatly and tight that nothing spilled too. I will definitely recommend Chowrastha to my friends.
Vegetarian options: Gobi Manchurian was the star for the night as it didn’t get soggy with time.
Kid-friendliness: Catered the menu as per my request and kids enjoyed the balance of spices.
The worst buffet I ever had in my life. They have charged 30$+ including taxes for 1 person. They served least number of items in the buffet. There were not even 10 items including veg & non veg items in the buffet. That was ridiculous for the price they charge. The food was stale, cold and tasteless. It is not worth 10$. Never ever will try this again
We are done. We have given this restaurant too many chances. Last night, we ordered take out, yes during the snow so we didn't make any issue with 1 hour 30 mins delivery. However, this is a very common issue, the length of time they take to prepare orders is typically 1 hour to 1.5 hours. Why? We ordered 1 butter chicken, 1 chili chicken. That's it. Am I wrong to assume restaurants make standard menu items in large batches and serve to order? None the less, we continue to order knowing it's going to take forever to eat. I had the butter chicken... its never epic, it's standard Canadian style butter chicken. But I usually like it well enough. Not this time. It was awful. Throughout my meal, I chewed into 6 cardamom pod seeds. Ewe. Those are not edible and should not be included in the dish, any dish! Take these out! It tastes like soap and a breath mint all in one. Like brushing your teeth while eating. Just awful. That's the end of the road for chances with this restaurant, plenty others to choose from. Do better.
Had dinner at this location on a Saturday evening. Parotta & naan were awesome. Chicken could’ve been a bit more spicy as it was marked with 3?️. But though spice level was less it was very tasty. Portions were good & very reasonable. Thank you Chowrasta!
The restaurant was totally empty at 12:30 when we arrived. The server brought one menu with the water. We ordered & my friend’s chilli chicken with rice came first. After 15 minutes or so I flagged down the server & asked how much longer. She apologized & said it would be ready in 5 minutes, that the vegetables had to be warmed up. My friend was trying to eat slowly so I wouldn’t have to eat alone when my Masala dosa finally came. After another 15 minutes I told the server to just forget it, that we had come in to eat lunch together. She said the cook was trying to make it, & it should be out in another minute. I said that the meals should have come out together, & she said she was sorry. It finally came out on a tray, more than half was empty & the filling wasn’t very warm. It wasn’t bad but certainly not worth the wait for a half filled dosa with very bland sauces. I had requested spicy & it wasn’t even close.I had been wanting to try Chowrasta for some time, but I’m not likely to go back.
Yonge & eglinton -Chowrasta. Seems like they don’t care about their food service nor the food taste. We order in person and waited 28 mins for the food. We ordered chicken tikka biryani. The rice came and it doesn’t even taste good. Like they put chicken tikka on the bottom of the container and plain white basmati rice with Indian spice mix into it, which taste disgusting. It’s uneatable. We also add 2 orders of Naan. Which the cashier told us we be getting 4 small pieces of Naan for 1 order. So we order 2 which we should have 8 pieces in total. And let’s not forget about Kadai chicken. We came home we got chickpeas curry or some sort. Mind you we paid $40+ dollar for a food that’s not even up for hype. Food is not good. I don’t recommend nor will ever visit restaurant ever again.
Everything is SO delicious, def get their shajahani curry chicken & ghee roast chicken biryani and it will blow your taste buds away. Be sure to call and order in advance as it can take some time to prepare (ie 40 mins) but it is so worth it for the amazing flavours

The food tastes authentic. We had butta biryani, originally ordered for 2 people, but the quantity is really crazy, would’ve easily suffice for a group of 3-4. Overall, was a great place in terms of affordability and taste.
Update from 12th October 2022-************************************I have ordered takeout on 5th & 10th october. Both time we ordered Dal Makhani, Kaju paneer curry, chilli chicken, Butter chicken, Gobi Manchurian, Chatpata Bhildi. Happy to report that their gravy are consistent in taste. I would like to point out that please order at least 45mins in advance for going for pickup , as their food is freshly cooked and good Indian food takes a little bit of time. This is not fast food.Update from 1st October 2022-************************************We have been regularly going in for dine-in almost every saturday (since 18th sep), but this time we ordered take out. I am happy to report that the food was excellent. We ordered bunch of stuff (checkout pics) - Chettinadu paneer, Kaju paneer masala, Paneer butter masala, Butter chicken, Chicken Tikka Kabab, Gobi Manchurian, Chilli Chicken, Butter Naan, Garlic Naan, Chili Naan. Everything was excellent. I am going back again today (5th Oct). Hopefully the cook doesn't change on weekdays. Will report how the takeout was on weekdays.Update from 18th September 2022-************************************This time we went with whole family (my wife, parents, both sons). We tried different items - veg thali, butter chicken, Chilli chicken, spicy chicken drumsticks, butter naan, Chilli naan etc. Happy to report that everything was excellent and everyone in our family liked the food. Going back on 25th to try out more stuff from their menu.We tried Chowrasta's non-veg thali on 12th Sept and I am happy to report the food was very tasty. All the items in the thali i.e. chicken 65 , mutton curry, baingan bharta, daal, sambhar, mixed veg were very tasty. We ordered an extra naan & about 3 bowls of extra rice and this thali is more than sufficient for 2 people. We are again going back today (18th September) to try their veg thali and other À la carte items i.e. butter chicken , butter paneer masala etc. Will report on how the other stuff is.I hope Chowrasta keeps up the great food quality.
Placed order on skip the dishes, received message saying food was almost ready but when we reached Chowrasta, they hadn’t even started cooking the food. We waited about 45min to pick up the food. Appetizers were great, curries were disappointing. Not worth the money
Surprisingly not busy on a Saturday evening..either we were too early or .. customer come really late..Place was huge ,neat and server was very nice .Food was pretty good . We had 65 dosa... could have been more crisper. Dum briyani was good..Over all good food and service
This is my go to place for Biryani! Sometimes the delivery becomes little bit tricky with increased pickup times but that doesn’t affect the food. Food is always really good!
