Ordered the halibut and chips. Fish was flat as a pancake & bland, the batter was greasy and without texture, and chips were greasy with no flavour. They also had something like bater on them as well, like the fires at DQ. Pretty much the worst fish 'n chips I have ever had in my life. You should know a fish 'n chip shop isn't legit when they don't even include vinegar in your condiments. Brutal. I'm sure the owners are good people, but save your money and go get food somewhere else.

We just enjoyed haddock and fries, it was excellent! 5 fish, 3 fries...big portions for $36! Fed 4 of us with a piece leftover...can't beat that. Thanks First Choice for a great dinner, we'll be back.

I ordered 3 pieces Halibut with 2 Chips today and I am totally satisfied. The portion is great for a family among 3 of us. The fish battered and seasoned well, crispy outside and moist inside with a reasonable price. It's great to buy the fish here and enjoy it nearby the seaside in an afternoon.

Ordered Halibut and chips recently. Portion size was good but the fish did not taste anything like Halibut. Had 2 other people taste the fish and they said the same thing. The person who commented that it was the best fish and chips on this side of NZ has to be joking. Sorry but the fish was not as good as it used to be.

Ordered for the first time today, awesome service, was ready on time. Fish was delicious! Gave us extras. Reasonably priced and supporting local. Will be coming here again!

We just ate here yesterday. We used to love this place but were very disappointed with the food this time. The fries were not good and serving size was small. The fish was very thin and blah. The previous owner did a much better job. I won’t be going back...which is very sad but not worth it at all.

Best fish n chips this side of NZ. My Mum is English and for her to rave about any fish & chips over here, its gotta be good! This is the only place we will go to now. The Halibut is NEVER greasy, the batter is nice and crispy, never gooey and overly thick like other places. The fries are always cooked to perfection and near impossible to find a burnt one. The Owner is super friendly and always greets us with smiles and hugs.You get great food for a great price, Highly recommended!Ash & Jill/AjaxEDIT: Unfortunately, ownership has changed. I have not had a chance to see if they can carry the torch forward.

This was or go to for a while. wow, fish was bad.. the tarter sauce must have been expired or not kept properly. Drove up to the store with the bad food, waited an hour to have a refund issued, they spent all there time taking new orders and not fixing the issue.
Excellent fish with a nice, light taste. Friendly and helpful staff. Amazing spring rolls!!!

Absolutely amazing fish and chips!My girlfriend and I were a little skeptical at first just seeing the place from the outside, but we decided to give it a shot, and we're so glad we did!Prices were very fair, and the fish was great. We got the halibut and cod, and there was no fishy taste or smell and the batter was the perfect thickness. Some places will go overboard and serve you more batter than fish, that's not at all the case here.Will definitely be coming back, and we wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who's looking for a great meal :)
