This is a fantastic local spot to get your Chinese Hakka fix. Really friendly lady helped me get my order done. The prices are excellent and they load up on the portions. The food is well made and tastes excellent so I highly recommend.

One of the better Hakka spots in the Durham area. It’s mainly takeout even if you choose to dine in, food is served in takeout boxes with plastic cutlery. We tried the chicken fried rice and chili fish, and both were absolutely delicious. I’d rate the food 5/5. Everything else was fairly average, but the taste definitely stood out.

EDIT 2025: Definitely standing the test of time. I adore running down and ordering now and then, always a delightful and budget-friendly treat. Easily my favourite spot that I can get out to reasonably quick by foot.
One of my best friends in the area highly recommended Hakka Pavillion and as I can say as well after experiencing a lot of other asian fusion restaurants in the area, Hakka Pavillion instantly became my favourite.
For the convenient location, comprehensive menu, wonderful lively setting and utterly amazing food, coupled with a low low price makes this the absolute winning option by a longshot.
I had the utter joy of experiencing the chicken lo mein combo (combo C, forgive me I can't remember the name well) and specified extra spicy and that's exactly what I got. Every morsel tasted bloody fantastic.
These guys are absolutely killing it even during COVID. I can't wait to try the rest of their menu.
Above average food for take out. I always notice that nobody there for dining, though they have dinning facilities. Taste is somewhat okay for regular day dinner/ lunch. However not for any occasions or staff lunch.
Service is not different than any other Chinese restaurants. No smile, no greeting and rude type of communication.

I love Hakka cuisine and this one did the job. I would have given a higher rating if I didn’t end up waiting almost 40 minutes when I was promised a 20 minute wait. I would have left if I didn’t pay in advance. I know it might have been peak time for them and there was only one person working out front, so bear that in mind.anyway, once I got my food I was alright. They didn’t go stingy on the rice nor the fish chili. I didn’t want to stop eating the eggplant cause it was so good. Shout out to the kitchen staff. I asked for them to temper down the spice and they certainly did. So clearly they can curtail orders which is a plus.

First time visitor. The food was awful. Garlic fish was soggy and gravy was jelly feel. The chicken Manchurian was overly cooked and chewy. All in all not worth a visit and definitely not Indian Hakka
