Lena’s Roti & Doubles

Lena's Roti & Doubles offers great tasting Trinidadian cuisine, including Doubles, Roti, Bakes, stews, and lots more! They have five locations in the GTA. I visited the one in Ajax recently.

Their menu has lots to offer and it took us a while to decide but we ended up ordering Doubles, Goat Pie, Bake and Salt Fish, Bake and Smoke Herring, and Curry Duck with Rice. It was all delicious but my favourite was the Curry Duck. It had lots of great flavour.

As full as we were, we had to try their house-made ice cream: Mango, Soursop, and Pina Colada. They were all good!

I ordered two doubles and I was served in less than two minutes. Two minutes is also an exaggeration. I kinda suspected it to be pre made and I wasn’t wrong. I drove with the packed doubles for only 15 min and when I opened it they were stuck to the wrapping paper like it was sitting for long and the bread was soggy and turned white at the bottom. Disappointed for sure! I didn’t mind waiting! But please don’t serve leftovers from a day before. It is unfair for the consumer. I have had doubles from other places and drove the same distance but never had this situation before

Jerk chicken here is 🔥! Nice little gem of a place, randomly walked in because I was hungry and turned out to be an amazing find.

Date/Time of Visit: November 16 approx 4:45pm Ordered roti and bone-in curry goat to go. Fast efficient service, I like the renovations they've done with all the snacks available right beside the cash. With my dinner order special I also got a 1 doubles free on the side. Everything was cooked perfectly, and very tasty. The goat was very tender and gravy was very flavourful.

I ordered a goat pie for a quick lunch. The bread was fluffy and hot and tasted really good on its own. Then...then the goat! Big chucks of perfection. I would highly recommend this friendly place!

We went to Lena's Ajax location last Sunday to get a few items. This wasn't our 1st visit to this location and I had stop going to Lena's because of the same/similar reasons.

I ordered 3 buss up shot roti shells, 1 order phlouri, 3 doubles - 2 pepper, 1 channel only for our toddler (we got pepper on all 3)! To my surprise the phulouri was RAW ON THE INSIDE, the doubles dough same it was nasty sticky and pasty.
The roti was under cooked the edges were hard and raw, we had to cut off all the edges to get to the middle which was OK. Left it in the fridge for 1 night turned hard like a rock, you can pelt it against a window and would probably break the glass!

This location is horrible we stopped going here, not sure when the food is ever good especially the simple basics a west indian person could make/buy. The oil should be HOT when make phlouri and if there is a wait it's OK,but half raw phulouri and doubles shell is NOT OK! On top of it, it was all SOAKED IN OIL!!! If the oil is hot it would be carey a few lbs of oil in it! Roti how hard is it to have a hot tawa to cook it? The people there on the Sunday I went looked disinterested and didn't care. A waste of $37 & change! Find a better roti shop thar knows to cook roti and the basic!

The guy at the front taking orders is very friendly when he's not distracted with personal conversations. I've been to this location a total of 5 times, and each time it got worse, with them either forgetting something or giving me the wrong dish. What really confuses me is how they manage to give a bag that looks really greasy/oily and somehow the food is dry?? Also price goes up but portion size comes down, no big deal, if the food is good.

I recently discovered Lena's restaurant, and I love it!❤️
If you are looking for a near home cook 🍳 meal with all the right carribean flavors 😋 look no further!
So far, I've had jerk chicken salad, curried chicken, rotie, mashed pumpkin, doubles and they are out of this world!!🌎
The service is always great 👍
I wish they had a larger eat-in space but the atmosphere is cozy when it's empty.
I'm glad I found this place and I glady recommend it!!
