I have to give Retro Burger in Ajax credit — this place surprised me in the best way. The food isn’t just good, it’s the kind of good that makes you stop mid-bite and go, “Okay… this is crazy.” The burgers are juicy, the toppings are fresh, and everything just tastes like it was made with real care. It’s comfort food done properly.
The atmosphere is relaxed, the staff treats you like they actually appreciate you being there, and the service is consistently quick. It feels like one of those local spots you can always rely on, no matter what you order or when you show up.
If you’re anywhere near Ajax and you haven’t tried Retro Burger yet, you’re missing out. This place has definitely earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

Returned to this place after two years, we moved. Ordered a cheeseburger and poutine, first of all, the place got super dirtier than I remembered, The guy who’s taking the order he’s mean, dirty looking and super rude. For two items was $22, That’s beyond insane. Burger was small and tasteless. The topping counter is dirty and the vegetables looks like it was thrown out at no frills. The gravy on the poutine is filled with MSG and put me into a coma straight away it looks nothing like the picture.
If I could give this place a -1000 I would, stay away from this place. Safe to say I threw everything out.

After the horrible experience , I had at the canadian bagel that's just a little step away from this restaurant, i walked inside retro burger and asked if I could use the washroom and they said , sure without any hesitation and of course , I bought my lunch here and let me tell you the food is amazing. I got a fresh burger, fresh like made just before my eyes fresh and some fries with gravy on the side. I. 'm gonna tell everybody about this location because the people inside are warm and friendly and they don't have anything against homeless people like the great canadian bagel does. Thank you for such a small thing.It turned out to be an amazing lunch , and you basically saved my life cause I really had to go to the bathroom.
Ps, im not eeeeeven homeless but the kindness shows!

Thought I would try Retro Burger since I was in the parking lot already. I ordered takeout a bacon cheeseburger and sweet potato fries with chipotle sauce. It was delicious and quite filling. I will definitely go back.

Staff preparing the food were friendly, except for the man in the blue shirt taking orders, he was rude and impatient. I felt very rushed placing my order. I don't know if he is the new owner but he was awful. It's like he thought he was Gordon Ramsey, yelling at the staff, confusing things, making customers waiting feel uncomfortable having to watch how he talked to the staff. The burgers don't taste the way they used to, the quality has gone down. The bun for my Philly cheesesteak was burned. Very disappointing.
