I have always been very happy with ANY Halibut House location. I love fish and chips. But I'm writing this review today because it's the first time I had ever tried the battered mushrooms. WOW! I was expecting small button mushrooms. I ordered take out. When I opened the box, they were eight large mushrooms, a great batter and good ranch dipping sauce as well.
I think another time I might consider just getting the mushrooms for a meal. I was really impressed.

Went to the Alliston location for lunch, halibut was Good, and the chips as well. This being said don't venture from that as others I was with had the burger very disappointed as the burger was nothing more than a Kirkland brand frozen burger. Another had the BLT and chips let's just say the sandwich was only two bites.
Overall was not impressed!

We had halibut and chips with coleslaw and it was fabulous! A delicious piece of fish cooked to perfection! The fries were light and tasty and the coleslaw was lovely! Good value and the service was top-notch! We’re already looking forward to next time.

My husband and I are long time customers of Halibut House and always had such a great experience... however, we placed an order last night and were absolutely shocked at the portion size... not in a good way. Price was the same as always and quality of food was still great (thankfully) but the portion size was at least half of what we recieved the last 5 years. I understand inflation but it's absolutely unacceptable to keep your prices the same and instead change the boxes so that the customers recieve significantly less for the same price. We have always spoken highly of Halibut House but unfortunately will not anymore and we will not be returning. Such a shame since potatoes are so cheap and the extreme portion reduction isn't justifiable. Highly DO NOT recommend. An absolutely rip off for your money.

Much better than the Barrie location, food was better and the service was far superior. That said, it's still Halibut House, but if you want a decent portion of fish and chips for a reasonable price and friendly service, this will cut it.
Their specials are good value ! Fish is crispy not greasy
