The food was really lacking. The calamari was not grilled but boiled and in a broth/soupy base with spinach 2 tomatoes. The spinach salad dressing was just oil. The crabcakes overpriced and lacklustre and the burgermeister left a lot to be desired and it was also topped with spinach. Spinach everywhere and no flavour. Can’t recommend. Only gave 1 star because there was no option to leave blank.

Really great place. Lamb shank with mashed potatoes, red cabbage and vegetables was superb. Great sticky toffee pudding. My wife had the salmon and loved it. They do it well here. My only suggestion is to up the quality of the coffee and espresso if you can.

Excellent meal. I had salmon, my husband had lamb. Both were very tasty with a lovely side of vegetables and mashed potatoes. Yummy sticky toffee pudding for desert. Fun, relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

This place is exceptional.
The braised short rib fell off the bone in one quick pull.
Next time I'll get the beef tip and blue cheese pasta.
The chef is also the owner and it shows. The food is GOOD!

Top notch. Very busy and I can see why. Grilled calamari was the best I’ve had with Sicilian ragu. Burger with rosemary was very unique, excellent. Nice baked goods. Friendly service and clean.

The food was delicious. Perfectly made and so tasty. It’s a small restaurant but comfortable. Live music on Saturday night which made the atmosphere even more welcoming. Kind staff. Highly recommend.

Lovely consistently yummy food. As a local it's so great to have gastronomy in our backyard.

Just enjoyed the venison. Wow oh wow.

We popped in for a quick drink and a bite. Had the crab cakes and yorkshire pudding. Both were delicious. All of the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. We will be back for sure!

A friend and I went for dinner here, totally out of the blue, but we were amazed! The food was mouth watering with excellent portions. We had calamari, a beef dish and sticky toffee pudding. The staff was friendly and we met a few people who were regulars. Definitely a must try.

So much respect and admiration for not only the concept, but continued execution of it. Passion is a powerful thing and here decades of success have not dimmed the ambition. Real entrepreneurialism is rare. It starts with a passion, a vision a dream and drive but then, it kickstarts a production of tangible variables that concludes in this case with food who’s flavour dances on the pallet and plays with the senses - my verdict: leathers earned

Some excellent dishes in the most unlikely small town of Alton.
I love their Yorkshire pudding with braised beef, mash potatoes and demi glace. Super yummy.
Their braised beef short ribs with dark ale is also tender and delicious.
They also served the table with fresh baguettes with yummy Olive tapenade.
They are very generous with their dishes be it prawn shrimp dinner or goat cheese on the rib eye steak.
Will definitely go back.
