Lumbertown Ale House never disappoints. The servers are always friendly regardless of how busy it is. The food is great but I can only comment on the nachos LOL. Great atmosphere and close to all of the great shops on John Street.
For a casual lunch, I highly recommend!

The server was very nice and the drinks were great. However the food wasn't the best. For a Gastropub chicken Kiev was an interesting choice and it sadly lacked the Kiev, there was no filling and according to the server that was simply how the chef did it. It also had a bone in it. Other other meal was good (steak sandwich, cooked medium - rare, although they didn't ask how we'd like it) a good recommendation we can make is the peach tree, a phenomenal drink, so clearly this place excels at drinks, but avoid that Kiev unless all you want is a piece of breaded chicken.
Best joint in town! The kitchen makes great food and the selection of drinks are awesome, Mocktails and all! It is a great environment and the staff are always so nice!

I had the special which was Bacon Mac and Cheese. The food was very greasy and the bacon was not cooked, it was raw. Waitress said it was smoked so it is cooked. The bacon was raw. I had two bites and left the rest. The waitress did not apologize or offer any discount whatsoever. I won't be back and I'll tell my friends about it as well. I at least expected a small discount. Very disappointing for the price

Wanted a booth. NO THATS FOR FOUR! Can we substitute our for fries with the fish & chips. Sure for $6!! But we don't want the fries. No matter. Still $6!! That's half off the $12 regular soup price. If you want service and accommodation, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. The cost per person was low because we just had the $10.50 beers and left.

I never leave reviews but this incident was way too ridiculous to not.
We arrive at the restaurant as a group of 4. We enter the place and it is not busy maybe two tables of people and it looked like they had some activity like karaoke going on.
We were hardly greeted by the hostess just and immediate “im not serving you guys drinks because your eyes are red” FIRST OF ALL that was a complete egregious statement to make and it was dark…. Two we did not smoke and three I need to see where in the handbook it says it is illegal to serve guests who have been “smoking.” She immediately storms off. We did not want to cause a seen but I would've loved to put her in her place.
Since we did NOT fit her accusation I'm chopping it up to lack of sensitivity training and not being used to seeing people darker than a brown paper bag.
We know people in the area that come here with no issues but apparently whoever this establishment had greeting guests needs to learn a thing or two.
We ended up going to the Cupboard a few doors down and had a wonderful lunch and dinner there.
