The new chef is humble and puts real heart into make a few really good dishes like Hainan Chicken rice and braised brisket. Both is a must try, the brisket is amazing! Great price for all the food.

The quality has gone down. The fries were old and tasted half cooked. The fish was ok at best. We will not be returning.

Fish was dry and half was just thick batter. Fries texture was like it was heated in microwave. Not very hot. I never ate it. 4 plates went back half eaten. Never again.

We went for an advertiser special meal. Order fish & chips and get second order 1/2 off.
The fish batter was too thick and over cooked.
The dinner took over 40 min to be served and we were only people there.
The meal tasted so greasy. Worded experience I've had.

The service in the restaurant was excellent. The fried cod fillet was very delicious, with the cod fillet being crispy and the fries having a great texture. Especially when dipped in the restaurant's homemade sauce, it was extremely tasty. My son loved it very much.

Been here a few times, dine in experience is better than takeout but food wise not really that much different. The issue is the fish isn’t really fresh both dine and takeout, for takeout the portion is so small and costed me $30 for halibut fish and onion rings. The service is good, but inside the floor is sticky and the booths too.

Ordered 2 halibut fish and chips combos. Fish is very overcooked and dry but yet so oily along with the fries. Very disappointing. Better off buying frozen fries and fish and sticking it in the air fryer. Would be 10 times better.

It's like 30 degrees in there and sweaty. Food is a 5/10. Service was great and friendly. Not going back to that sauna.

✨ A classic done right — crispy, golden, and full of comfort. Halibut House Aurora delivers fish & chips that feel like home.
We started with the Grilled Halibut, which was a refreshing surprise — beautifully seasoned, tender inside with charred edges, served alongside thick-cut chips and a fresh garden salad. The Italian dressing added just the right tang to balance the richness of the fish.
Next up: the Fish Taco. Don’t let the size fool you — this one’s a flavour bomb. A soft tortilla cradled a crisp piece of halibut, topped with creamy slaw and a drizzle of spicy aioli. Zesty, crunchy, and gone in two bites.
The Halibut & Chips combos were the star of the show. That batter? Light and crispy without being greasy. The halibut inside was thick, juicy, and flaky — everything you want from classic fish and chips. Paired with coleslaw, it made for a comforting, balanced meal.
The shrimp were perfectly done — lightly battered with a juicy snap inside. They’re ideal as a side or a snack while you wait (but honestly, you’ll want a full order).
A special shoutout goes out to Min, Foster, and Ivy for ensuring a seamless dining experience with delicious cooking and serving!
Halibut House doesn’t mess around with frills. It’s about consistency, portion, and care.

We went there for the first time when they were promoting their one get one free. We had ordered two Halibut fish and chips. I also pointed the poster with the price of $14.99 for one dish towards the waitress. She said this dish is part of the promotion. When the moment of truth came, I needed to be straight forward that the texture of the fish was so dry, thin on thickness with very thick batter costing. Is it Halibut? I do not have a concrete answer for myself. Also, they did not clarify their much higher markup dinner price compared to the much lower price showing on the windows. At the time of paying the bill, we were charged $24 for 2 orders. When I asked the reason for that expensive bill, the owner claimed the price on the windows was actually for lunch.
I think this is my last visit here if they did not change their way to do business.

The worst fish and chips. Batter hard as rock. French fries also hard crusted and cold. Waste of money.

Very disappointed.
Ordered a 2pc halibut and chips today and was served a thin, dry, overbattered piece of fish. For $40 it was very disappointing.
I question whether it was actually halibut that was served as usually I’ve had halibut that is a 1-2” thick piece served in a rectangular shape.
Today’s fish was extremely thin, and long/flat piece more typical of cod or haddock.
Fries were good. But didn’t come to halibut house for fries.
