went to this place excited and looking forward to the food. I went with my husband, we got seated, and waited for the waitress. When she finally came, I placed my order. She asked if I had ordered the tiramisu, and I said no, these are my orders. Her rude reply: “You don’t need to repeat yourself twice. I understood.”
That was enough for me. I didn’t even bother trying the food. I got up and left because I don’t give my money to a place where I’m not respected. From what I’ve read in other reviews, this isn’t just me — the customer service here is awful.
The only thing this restaurant has going for it is the location and the view. The food might be good, I don’t know, because I never got that far. But the service? Horrible. The waitress was disgusting, and so was the manager. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Wonderful food, pizza and environment. The staff are friendly. It’s a nice place to go for a date or for a family get together. I really like the pizzas made in the special brick oven they have. The rest of the food was excellent too.

It's just ok. Not authentic Italian.
What they passed off as focaccia was a very thin crust round pizza with oil. The bruschetta was also a thin pizza with sliced tomatoes covering it.
Ravioli was good though.

I went to dine here for Mother’s Day with the family, and it turned to be the best decision I’ve made. They have great Margherita Pizza and Spaghetti Bolognese, and at the end of it all, a very nice Tartufo Ice Cream. Nothing chaotic about the interior, it was perfectly mellow! Excellent service by William!

Just had dinner at Joia for the first time and can say it was amazing. We had a party of 8 and all meals were absolutely delicious. We had quite a variety but wanted to try it all :) Everything was fresh, hot and presented well.
Great service from Kai who was friendly and so knowledgeable about the menu. A server can make all the difference in your dining experience.
Will be back for sure. The only negative I can say is we haven't been here sooner and we dove into the food so quick we forgot to take pictures.

Note: this was Valentines Day - Unfortunately we left after appetizers due to the low quality of service and food.
Service started off poorly, with no drink menus at the tables. When we asked the server about this he stated “order whatever from the bar, or do you want a wine list?”
The server eventually came over with a very ratty binder, throwing it on the table and immediately leaving.
The calamari was overcooked, under seasoned and chewy, and the bruschetta was served with a lake of olive oil, raw jarred garlic and whole slices of wet tomato.
After being so dissatisfied with the appetizers we asked to cancel our entrees and pay and leave - the server abruptly grabbed the plates from in front of us, tried to guilt us into staying by saying “the kitchen is already cooking it”
When the server arrived with the cheque, he rudely commented “sorry for whatever was wrong”, when I did not engage this comment the sever finally asked what the problem was .
When I stated my concern about the food the server shrugged them off not at all addressing our issues with the food.
If this was a sports bar, I would not be leaving this review. But for the price point, I fail to see what Joia has to offer.
At no point did the server ask what could be done to rectify our visit. Unfortunately we did have to pay for the bad food as well.

Service was good. Food not good. Veal was so salty. I ordered the special, Gorgonzola risotto. There was one piece of Gorgonzola in the entire dish. The pizza special had potatoe on it. It came with boiled potatoes on top. Very underwhelming and overpriced for what they’re serving.

Didn't have halal options, did not offer guidance with menu
In response to Kim (aka Karen’s) comment. You say you saw the faces at our table and profound language was used. Maybe if the manager didn’t storm over causing a scene and ran into the kitchen calling his customers words I will not post on google review, the customer wouldn’t be getting upset at the staff. Hope next time you sit at a restaurant and this happens you reconsider getting involved before you know the whole story.
Over the past few years I’ve heard wonderful things about joyia . My Daughter was turning 21 and wanted to celebrate her birthday with her family. I made reservations for. We all had a wonderful meal. The service was excellent. As we were finishing up our lovely dinner all we could hear is someone behind us becoming more and more angry with the staff . He was using profanity towards the staff. It made us feel uncomfortable and im sure others in the restaurant felt lithe same . Maybe I should have not interjected my feelings. Maybe the man should have gone somewhere else private to discuss his matter privately and not feel the need to make everyone in the restaurant feel uncomfortable. “ normally I’m not. A Karen” but I couldn’t sit there anymore and listen to you . I saw the faces at your table and i felt sorry for them .
I was disappointed by the experience overall. Based on the menu online, I was excited to try this restaurant, but it over promised and underdelivered.
I asked for a wine list - they don't have one, so I asked what types of white wine they had. Ordered a pinot grigio...got a glass of some kind of red wine. Once corrected, I got a glass of white wine that was likely cheap table wine. Tasted old, like the bottle was opened weeks ago, and not like pinot grigio at all.
The food - over priced. We ordered the portobello appetizer- and it was overcooked and did not include all the ingredients advertised.
The pizza- the dough was undercooked as were the toppings and the flavour was underwhelming.
The calamari - overcooked and cold.
The service - we were only asked if we wanted dessert. No check on how we found the food. As my mom answered the waiter, he left mid-sentence...it was rude.
My favourite - the table by the bar where the waiters put used glasses, clean glasses, pitchers of water to serve customers, the red wine I gave back to them, plus parmesan to serve the customers, all in one place. It left a bad impression on me.
It's really too bad. I won't be back, and instead will save my money and go to State and Main or Locale instead. Cheers!
