Minami Sushi Japanese Restaurant

I can’t say enough good things about Minami Sushi! The shushi is the best I have ever had in all of the GTA. I have a shellfish allergy and I have eaten here maybe more than ten times now and no issues. The staff is so polite and will get you anything you need with a smile. I will always be coming back and recommending Minami.

TL;DR — Staff kept hovering over shoulder, bringing us the bill when we hadn’t even asked for it (essentially kicking us out) and asked for gratuity on top.

My friend and I came here on a Friday evening at 6:30. The restaurant wasn’t busy at all. Staff kept coming by our table, even though we hadn’t called them for anything. Literally every 2 min or so, a staff member would be at our table. Then, as my friend and I are talking (not calling any staff members or asking for the bill), the waiter comes up to us with our bill. My friend and I looked at each other cause neither of us asked for the bill. I told him it’s gonna be a separate bill, he said “a split bill?” I said no separate. He comes back with our bills, my friend pays and when he turns to me to pay and is waiting for me, he turns back to my friend and flat out says “oh you didn’t add gratuity on this”. My friend and I were seeing red cause a tip is earned, not just expected? We asked to speak to the manager or get their contact info since our experience wasn’t any good. We hadn’t even been there a whole hour and guess what? The place was hardly busy, so I’m not really sure why we were kicked out. The staff kept looking at us like aliens and just kept saying “there’s no number”, “we don’t know when he’ll be in”, etc. For a good 10 minutes, we were just going back and forth about needing to get into contact with the manager.

There are MUCH better restaurants in Aurora and the surrounding area. Trust, you don’t wanna eat here.

Worst service ever in aurora and newmarket area. We were there for not even an hour, ordered food and while eating at least 5 different servers came 5 times to push us out and pay and go without even asking to pay for the bill, forcing us to leave. I worked in restaurants and tips are deserved when earned. I did not tip and he had the nerve to ask me to tip him!!! Get out of here, never ever again coming back to this dump!!

Terrible service. Do not order through Uber Eats. They will not assist with refunding or reordering mistaken charges if you happen to make an error. Same with Uber Eats, but that's besides the point. They would prefer to keep your money. Avoid!

Amazing food with a great atmosphere, having a cozy/ relax vibe. Come here all the time, and for a good reason.

Restaurant is beautiful inside but was left fuming after dinner service. They never refilled water, no napkins on the table, also never came back to ask for seconds and on top of that missed appetizer. Yes they did try to make up for it by comping the app but still didn't come back with water or drinks even after asking twice. Sushi itself was excellent. Might give them another chance in the future.

We came to the restaurant to celebrate our friends birthday party. We arrived at 7 PM and they close at 9 PM. Our waiter came for last call and said no worries to stay until 9:30. Unfortunately by 9:10 PM they told us we are closing even when had food still on our table . We had ordered full meals as well as 2 bottles of wine.
Never been so disappointed at this service and how rushed we felt.
Definitely not happy even though we have always enjoyed the take out from this place over many years.
Will not come back again!

Tried this Minami location because the usual one was closed and got the sashimi dinner for take out. It was absolutely disgusting! I’ve never had sashimi with this much connective tissue ever and more than half my dinner was affected. It was a fight every single bite and I constantly had to spit it out because it was way too tough to chew.

It also doesn’t help that the salmon didn’t taste fresh. I highly don’t recommend this location at all!!!

Absolutely Exceptional – A Must-Visit!
Minami Sushi is hands down one of the best sushi dining experiences I've had in a long time. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and stylish without being pretentious. The service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about every dish on the menu.

Now, the sushi… absolutely phenomenal. Every piece was fresh, expertly prepared, and beautifully presented. Even the miso soup and appetizers were a step above.

If you're a sushi lover—or just appreciate great food—Minami Sushi is a must. I’ll definitely be back, and I’ll be bringing friends. Highly recommend

I got poisoned by a lobster roll sushi there. Soda is sold in cans, which is not accepted in decent places.

Was there for dinner on June 28, 2025. Wife and I both got food poisoning. Checking the reviews now, there are 2 other cases in the last 2 months!

We have been eating at various sushi restaurants in Aurora trying to find the best take-out. This is by far the best sushi in Aurora. A must try! We will definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu. Many Japanese and Korean options to try.
