got a 3 piece halibut today very disappointed tiny pieces with more batter than fish I've been coming here for 10 yrs + worst i ever had

We were so disappointed after hearing all the rave reviews.
Our opinion, we don't understand how they have repeat customers.
There was only one person in front of us but it still took to long to get our order.
When it was ready, we were made to feel like we put her out of her way for having to bring us our order, and for the WORST fish & chips we've ever had.
We will NEVER being going back to this place!

Open 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day) located just off 400 highway, at 2195 Muskoka District Road 38, Bala, ON.
Trust me, the batter issues mentioned in recent reviews have been resolved. There was an issue in that the normal batter used from Quaker, was unavailable for an extended period this summer (the 2nd year in a row, despite assurances to contrary). Plans are to order extra inventory, just in case.
The haddock meals we ordered were magnificent (shrimp only good too! - we shared) and LEFTOVERS rule. Portions are huge, great value.
Mrs H's will be a must do whenever nearby, worth the drive.

Showed up at 720 they are suppose to close at 8. Wasn’t greeted well by three grumpy staff and was told they only had fish and chips . Kids did not want fish so they didn’t eat. Received my order at 735. Fries undercooked and batter mushy and no gravy. The worst experience ever. Had to drive another 40 min to get hamburgers for the kids. Never again

This was some of the BEST fish and Chips I've ever had. Nice light crispy batter on the fish, and yummy seasoning on the fries. 10/10 for sure definitely recommend

It's It's tiny place with picnic tables only. Not sit down but the food is top notch. Best fish & chips if you don't care about eating in your car

I’m sorry we traveled out of our way to try the fish n chips. The fish had more batter than fish and the fries were under cooked and luke warm. You see how much they give you for chips which seems like an amazing amount but the food needs to be quality for that to matter. I’m sorry I do see all these amazing reviews but my experience is it was not worth the drive.
Atmosphere I’m indifferent it’s an outside setting so while you are eating, people who are waiting some are smoking right by where you are eating. That was something I didn’t appreciate.
If I was going for the interaction with the cashier. She was amazing very friendly and social with everyone.
